Fox Pundit: Images From Foley Beheading Video Are ‘Perfectly Fair’ For GOP Campaign Ads

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Raw Story

Conservative radio host Lars Larson told Fox News on Tuesday that it was “perfectly fair” for Republican candidates to use images from a video of an American journalist being beheaded in campaign ads attacking President Barack Obama. A campaign video advertisement released on Monday by New Mexican Republican Senate candidate Allen Weh includes a frame from a gruesome video which showed the beheading of American photographer James Foley. The ad crops out Foley so only the disturbing image of the masked killer holding a knife is visible.

The ad goes on to slam President Barack Obama for playing golf, and tries to link Weh’s opponent, Democratic Sen. Mark Udall, to the administration’s foreign policy. Former Obama campaign consultant Marjorie Clifton pointed out to Fox News on Tuesday that the ad “creates a really distasteful environment in terms of negative campaigning.” Larson, however, called the ad “perfectly fair.”

“James Foley’s executioner, the image is very powerful,” he insisted. “It reminds us of something important. A lot of Democrats don’t want to be tied to this president’s policies — although they are — because this president is playing while ISIS is out killing people.” “It isn’t September 10th any more,” Larson added. “It is past Sept. 11th, 2001. It’s a different era. And this president, back when he wanted this job, said, ‘I will give up vacations, I will give up time with my family.’ Well, he’s done anything but. He’s the playboy president.” So of course, you’re going to see that image played.”

1. The image reminded me of Gitmo and Abu Ghraib.

It's like a remix of images from the original war on terror.

In a similar way "shock and awe" on Baghdad reminded me of 9/11.

It makes you wonder who is coming up with all these spectacles.

These are the same folks that said that images of 9/11 or Fallujah were verbotten to use against Bush, but it's OK to use anything against a Dem.

They make me sick!!

I don't think the Foley Family would want these images to be used in ads that they would see on a 24/7 basis. Conservatives have so shame or empathy they only strive to poke at the things that they consider important to them.

Every crazy in the news lately from cops to ranchers to open carry to whatever Victoria Jackson is, they are all hollow shells of human beings filled with Fox propaganda and fuelled by maniacal fear and hate.

Fox did build that.

the whole reason we're still stuck there is because of the ill-advised war that you guys pushed on the world. It doesn't take a marketing genius to turn that back around and sting you in your ass.

"well paid media whore" to the standard definition of "pundit"?

Can we use images of Mike Kelly's related death now in ads?

32 journalists were killed in Iraq because of Bush, how many days was he on vacation then?

Fucking fascists.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh could tell FOX News the same thing and it wouldn't be considered important news of national interest for posting in the LBN Forum. Forum Hosts feel the same about Lars Larson, his opinion is not important news of national interest. His opinion is just that, his opinion.
