Cruz: It was a ‘remarkable victory’ until Senate Republicans caved on the shutdown
Source: Raw Story
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday blasted members of his own party after he said that they wasted a remarkable victory by making a deal with Democrats to re-open the government and avert a default on U.S. debt by raising the nations credit limit.
At the same time Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was on the Senate floor telling Republicans that it was time to move on, Cruz was elsewhere in the Capitol lashing out at his colleagues.
As CNNs Dana Bash pointed out to Cruz, he had nothing to show for his efforts President Barack Obamas health care reform law had not been defunded nor delayed after 16 days of a government shutdown.
Cruz, however, said that he disagreed: Months ago, when the effort to defund Obamacare began, official Washington scoffed, they scoffed that the American people would rise up, they scoffed that the House of Representatives would do anything and they scoffed that the Senate would do anything.

(1,008 posts)Cruz and his fellow crazies - Baggers, Fundies, debt deniers... etc - did not get their seats in Congress at gunpoint. They were elected by their Districts, some times multiple times.
Don't give me gerrymandering. That might account for getting conservatives reelected easily. It doesn't account for primarying mainstream, sane Reps and opting for a certifiable wing-nut on a suicide mission.
Wing-nut voters are dangerous, brutal and ignorant. They thrive on chaos and disruption. But they vote. And if we can't find a way to marginalize them, the next round will be worse.

Cruz also got the bonus of a large campaign war chest and a mistaken feeling that he enjoys some popular support. Until Republicans go into open civil war and have it out, the party inbreeders will continue to nominate idiots like Cruz, and those idiots will be crushed in general elections. So let me be one of the first to say...Ted Cruz 2016!!!
