Court: Same-sex marriages can continue

Source: SFGate

The state Supreme Court refused Monday to halt the weddings of gay and lesbian couples in California, rejecting a request by the sponsors of a 2008 initiative that banned same-sex marriage.

Backers of Proposition 8 had turned to the state's high court last week after Gov. Jerry Brown ordered all 58 county clerks in California to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Brown acted two days after the U.S. Supreme Court's June 26 ruling that the initiative's private sponsors lacked legal standing to defend it in federal court.

The June 26 ruling reinstated an August 2010 decision by a federal judge that declared Prop. 8 to be an unconstitutional act of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender. Brown issued his order hours after a federal appeals court lifted an injunction that had blocked the marriages.

In seeking an emergency stay, Prop. 8's sponsors argued that the federal judge's ruling applied only to the two couples who had sued to overturn the measure, and that Brown lacked authority to order county clerks to ignore the 2008 initiative.

I went to subway for lunch. I got a sweet onion chicken teriyaki sammich with tomatoes and pickles. Just as I was paying, some jerk came in and ordered a footlong meatball sub with hot peppers. It really offended me that he didn't get the same thing I did. After all, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and meatballs.
I kicked him out of the restaurant and told him he could have what I wanted or nothing at all. This so called 'Sandwich Equality' is just a smokescreen for perversion and special treatment. "

That's how I view the anti-equality people. Seems very petty to me to work so hard to keep civil rights away from one group of people.

I like to use the YOU-can't-have-a-donut-because-I-am-on-a-diet scenario.

What jerks
