Boston Police Knock Down NYPost Story about Suspect in Custody

Source: tpm

A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said no suspects have been taken into custody yet after the bombing at the Boston Marathon.

"At this time, we haven't been notified of any arrests or anyone apprehended," the spokesperson said.

The New York Post reported that a "Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today's blast" has been identified as "a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing." The Boston PD spokesperson did not confirm that report.

"Honestly, I don't know where they're getting their information from, but it didn't come from us," said the spokesperson.

The Post report was attributed to "a law enforcement source." According to the Post, the "suspect" is "currently being guarded in a Boston hospital."

If (and I'm only saying "if" because we have no facts right now whatsoever) this ultimately was the action of a homegrown, domestic right wing anti-government terrorist, you know the right wingers will begin obsessing about the false report of the Saudi national, and claim there was some cover-up.

They did it with Oklahoma City.

Remember all the stories about the "man in the woods" at Sandy Hook Elementary (which turned out to be nothing more than the police temporarily detaining a parent who had rushed to the school, until they determined he was not a suspect.)

They'll do it here, too.

The Murdoch Post story will turn out to be total bullshit, but down the road, probably when some swastika-tattooed white supramacist is caught, the Murdoch Post story will be all over Prison Planet and Infowars as PROOF OUR GOVERNMENT WANTS TO SHUT DOWN FREEEEEEEEEDOOOOOMMMM!

"We haven't been notified..." does not refute anything, it just says they don't know anything.

"I don't know where they're getting their information from, but it didn't come from us" is likewise carefully crafted to be nonresponsive.

Of course they don't want wild rumors flying, and they also want to control the flow of truthful information. Time will tell us more about this horrific situation.

UPDATES:

(5:27 PM): A spokesperson with the FBI's national press office in Washington DC declined to comment when asked about reports a suspect or person of interest had been identified in the bombings.

(5:39 PM): NBC News is also reporting there is a "possible suspect" being guarded at a Boston hospital. After that report, a spokesperson for the Boston Police Department reiterated that they had "no confirmation" of any possible suspect in custody.

"They didn't obtain that information from us," the spokesperson said of the NBC report.

Hooray for me.

One thing is certain. This is just ONE MORE nail to hold in place all the anti-terrorist measures we live with now. How long before the TSA has a hiway division that performs random stop and search efforts on controlled roads into major cities??? One by one - every fucking bodily function will be surveilled and evaluated to detect any possible threat.
How long before we're required to be micro-chipped for tracking 24/7 and have our cellphones rigged so it can be noted when it's separated from our body? We're WELL on our way there. And this event in Boston will sell a BUNCH of civilian drones - you just watch!
