Dick Cheney Criticizes Obama National Security Appointees In Speech

Source: AP

By BOB MOEN 02/10/13

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Saturday night that President Barack Obama has jeopardized U.S. national security by nominating substandard candidates for key cabinet posts and by degrading the U.S. military.

"The performance now of Barack Obama as he staffs up the national security team for the second term is dismal," Cheney said in comments to about 300 members of the Wyoming Republican Party.

Cheney, a Wyoming native, said it was vital to the nation's national security that "good folks" hold the positions of secretary of state, CIA director and secretary of defense.

"Frankly, what he has appointed are second-rate people," he said.

Projecting much, Mr. Cheney? Look in the mirror, along with your buddies, Bush and Rumsfeld. You three are the main culprits that got us into, not one, but two un-winnable wars. How many hundreds of thousands have died, and continue to die, thanks to the three of you?

BTW, who was president during 9/11/01? Also, close to 50 people died at diplomatic posts during the Bush administration. Were you and your cronies in Congress outraged about those deaths? Did you drag the Secretaries of Defense and State in front of Congress to testify about those 50 deaths? I think not.

Hypocrisy, thy name is the Republican Party.

8. And don't forget, the War in Iraq, spilling blood and treasure for nothing, due to a "mistake,"

trusting statements of a tortured prisoner and believing badly forged documents to name just two.

Can there be a worse national security staff than Bush/Cheney's considering the War in Iraq and their failure to really deal with Afghanistan? They couldn't find Bin Laden when he was in the same town as a Pakistani military base?

The number of "mistakes" made by the Bush administration with regard to national security and Cheney dares to criticize Obama?

Douglass Feith. A third word was Brownie. You could fill a phone book with the second rate clowns from W - Bremer, Mukasey, Gonzales, Ashcroft, Wolfie, Chertoff, Kerik for starters.

To install a man who openly expressed zero faith in collective action and was outright dismissive of the UN like Bolton, as UN envoy, is defeating the purpose and insulting.

Our weakest link in our security response was Dick Cheney. Bush delegated to him and Cheney was pursuing a strategy that would have streamlined everything through the Red Cross.

9. Add Condi Rice And Alberto Gonzales To That List

Rice is the one that was responsible for following up on the August 6th PDB advising that bin Laden was determined to strike inside the US with hijacked airplanes listed as an option. She too failed to act on data coming from FBI offices in Minneapolis and Phoenix about "pilots" only wanting to learn how to fly a jet liner and not how to take off or land those aircraft.

Gonzales is the one that wrote the legal opinions ending Habeas Corpus and authorizing enhanced interrogation methods (torture). We still suffer from the damage caused by these decision as we relearn that you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

The thing that sets Cheney apart is just how vile he is in his personal attacks on policy differences. He is the meanest jerk ever to hold a national elected position and his damn daughter is in the same mold. With his approval rating he should just shut the f*ck up because nobody cares about anything he says anyway.

Cheney needs a brain transplant, Rumsfelt with his beady eyes let's not forget Brownie hecka good job Mission Impossible, I could go on and on, Cheney doesn't need to do anything but apologize to the families of troops injured and killed in their useless war. 31. And besides

those wars were the quickest and funnest (for them) way to bankrupt America and cast the majority of us into a shock doctrine reality. the Enron project was taking too long and they got caught... And the wars were also a doable smokescreen to whisk away any notion of accountability while eveyone was looking "over there" in warville.

has served and got training in military leadership schools, I'm very comfortable with our Commander in Chief and the decisions he has made so far. I'm definately comfortable with his Secretary of State and Defense nominee.

One of main issues with Romney and Ryan were Foreign affairs. I felt if those two would have won, we would be on the course to World War III. The neocons and warmongers like Senator McCain would have owned amateurs like Romney and Ryan. Neither ever been in the military and both were warmongers, Vietnam and Iraq just like Cheney and Bush. I think President Obama at least had knowledge about the consequences of War and his grandfather also served in World War II. So he had an appreciation for people that actually served.

48. He shouldn't ever speak again. He's under an arrest watch by several countries now.

He should be keeping a very low profile these days.

If I were the president, I would hold Cheney's comments up as proof of the soundness of my appointees. -HMH-

When is this vile piece of shit just gonna croak? It's sickening to see him slithering in the spotlight year in and out. Just hurry the fuck up and die, Dick. Just make sure that rotted corpse of yours gets the Mussolini treatment.

61. Never in my lifetime have I heard of an ex vp (or even the p) continue to criticize a sitting

president like this.

He's always above and beyond what's right and proper - better than anyone else and doesn't care about common courtesy and political etiquette.

I don't remember ever wishing anyone dead before but the phrase: why doesn't he just die? comes to mind every time he does this.

But with his money and pull we'll be putting up with Robo-Dick forever!

63. That's because Cheney is a real turd.

I don't wish him dead, but I would be happy if we never heard again from him and his daughter too. At least Bush Jr. has had the grace to stay mostly out of sight and out of politics.
