"Federal Agents are investigating another allegation of sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at a Prom party at which several members of Steubenville’s Big Red football team were present, it can be revealed today.

MailOnline has learned that a report was filed with Steubenville City Police in September and relates to an incident that allegedly took place at a house party in the small Ohio town last April.

Approached by MailOnline the family of this latest ‘victim’ declined to comment. Her step-father explained: ‘We’ve been advised by our lawyer not to say anything.' He agreed that, ‘anything involving Big Red football players is hot right now,’ adding ‘that’s the problem.’

The girl is being advised by Bob Fitzsimmons, attorney for the 16-year-old girl at the centre of the Ohio rape case currently.

This is a huge problem there. I wonder how many other towns have this bad of a reputation. Thanks for posting and I hope the federal agents get all they need to jail everyone involved. The coverup in that town needs to end.

6. Don't know if the problem is as widespread in these places, but look up these two incidences. . .

"Spur Posse" (Lakewood, California) and "Glen Ridge rape" (New Jersey).

Information about both can be found in Wikipedia.

The Glen Ridge situation is similar in many aspects to the Steubenville crimes. The Spur Posse, though not exclusively comprised of athletes, elicited the same shrill defense from their parents as we're hearing from Steubenville.

who would let their daughter go anywhere near these assholes?

In all these towns where they worship jocks, there's gotta be about as many teenage girls as teenage boys.

Do the parents send off their daughters off to parties hoping they'll be tapped by the whole team?

All out of proportion to their numbers, which is something I've mentioned here and elsewhere before.

through the complicity of the communities around them.

This is a part of what feminists mean when we talk about a "rape culture."

A culture in which reports of rapes are most often ignored, brushed aside, covered up, leaving the survivors to struggle with their trauma alone, knowing all the while that the perpetrators, far from being punished, are often held up as heroes and role models (re: Penn State, the Catholic Church, etc. etc.).

We are watching the destruction of so many young women and young men, but as a culture we do so pathetically little to stop it.

the denial and disclaimers. Me and mine, to hell with the rest. Irrefutable evidence and a community doesn't band together to get rid of the perps, they have a rally to protect their youth from outsiders. Ha ha ha ha ha . Oh shit.

as city attorney and possibly disbarment. There may be proof now that she did in fact offer immunity or atleast a guarantee not to prosecute those who helped her. First:
In 1997 the DOJ filed a "pattern or practice" lawsuit under the 1994 Violent Crime and Civil Rights Abuses Act. Their town of 15k beat LA, Detroit, New Orleans & Philadelphia for abuses. They were monitored by the DOJ from 1997-2003 and forced to make changes (many existing officers left the force rather than comply) They had 48 civil rights lawsuits the 20 yrs prior. "In its complaint, the Justice Department alleges the city and the police department have engaged in a pattern or practice of subjecting individuals to excessive force, false arrests, charges, and reports, improper stops, searches, and seizures. The complaint states that Steubenville officials have caused and condoned this conduct through their inadequate use-of-force policies; inappropriate off-duty-conduct policies; and failure to supervise, train, discipline, monitor and investigate police officers and alleged misconduct. Among the offenses, Steubenville police officers allegedly used excessive force against individuals who witnessed incidents of police misconduct, who were known critics of the department or were disliked by individual officers, and who were falsely arrested or charged persons believed likely to complain of abuse. Further, officers allegedly falsified reports and tampered with official police recorders so that misconduct would not be recorded."

http://www.hrw.org/legacy/reports/reports98/police/uspo36.htm

They were even mentioned at the UN Committee Against Torture in Geneva by Chief of Staff to the Asst. AG for Civil Rights, DOJ William Yeomans.
Here is a link to a petition to remove Jane Hanlin. The prosecutor who allegedly tried to talk the girl and her family out of pressing charges. Who supposedly offered immnunity to a couple of individuals, THEN recused herself.
