Rick Perry: Banning Abortion Is 'My Goal'

Source: Huffington Post

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) urged state lawmakers Tuesday to pass more restrictions on abortion, and proclaimed that his end goal is to outlaw the procedure entirely.

"To be clear, my goal, and the goal of many of those joining me here today, is to make abortion, at any stage, a thing of the past," Perry said at a press conference organized by Texas Right to Life. "While Roe v. Wade prevents us from taking that step, it does allow states to do some things to protect life if they can show there is a compelling state interest. I don’t think there is any issue that better fits the definition of 'compelling state interest' than preventing the suffering of our state’s unborn."

The reason I support him is that this clown will force other reasonable candidates far to the right and make the general election unwinnable for repukes.

Time to remove yourselves from this hell-hole of a state! Not only do they want to take away your health care rights, they want to secede from this country. I say, bye-bye!! See what's left after that, when you will need visa's to live here and work here, and you will be illegal immigrants...And Perry will be on the sidelines...praying....

They don't trust women to make decisions for their own lives, their own bodies; I do. I'm getting good feedback by using that theme, that of trusting women vs not trusting them.

Do you care to trace back to the possible roots of the mistrust? it will possibly end among religous beliefs of a time when the power became dependent on religion for dominance. So religions seem to be changing the context for that, because they finally realized the problem. That's why I support funding for them to sit at a table and discussed their differences and validity of the strategies used to spread the religous message. Then many problems derived from that will self-correct.

But the funding must come from those with lots of extra wealth, most of us have no money, inspite of lots of work, productivity, generosity, and good deeds.

women must get into the field of economics, learn it well as oppossed to just getting a degree that says so, and from that basic stone raise the claims of social equality, human rights, etc.

Mutual respect is one of the few important things to keep constant in the social discussions, and work on behalf of making clear the bad consequences of erasing it from the human population mind.

How can you be so "pro-life" and at the same time be so "pro-death penatly". It just doesn't make sense.

Apparently, he doesn't seem to see the contradiction in his viewpoints
