Detroit Free Press Urges Snyder To Put Right-To-Work Laws On BallotLast edited Mon Dec 10, 2012, 04:58 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

PEMA LEVY 4:33 PM EST, MONDAY DECEMBER 10, 2012 The Detroit Free Press urged Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to accept a compromise from the state's Democratic congressional delegation to put right-to-work laws on the ballot rather than signing them into law, in an editorial published Monday afternoon. The right-to-work legislation already passed by the state Senate could land on the governor's desk as early as Tuesday against major opposition from Democrats and unions. If Gov. Rick Snyder expects Michiganders to believe his professed interest in “worker choice” is anything more than the most cynical doublespeak, he’ll embrace a reasonable compromise Michigan’s Democratic congressional delegation proposed at a meeting in the governor’s Cadillac Place office Monday morning. -30- Read more: http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/detroit-free-press-urges-snyder-to-put-right Link to DFP ediorial: http://www.freep.com/article/20121210/OPINION01/121210052/Editorial-Worker-choice-Let-Michigan-voters-decide-right-work

5. This would be nice ...
|
... but I don't see him handing his Koch-bought win over to some low-lifes across the aisle.
Maybe there's a way to reverse it via a referendum or something. Like what was done with his Emergency Manager bullshit. |

16. Not possible, apparently.
|
The MI GOP attached the right to work measure to an appropriations bill, making the referendum option impossible.

17. Yup, attach an appropriation to the bill and make it immune to a referendum.

6. We had a choice on the ballot. The Free Press went with Snyder
|
and the defeat of Proposal 2 that would have put our rights in the constitution! But THEY said we didn't NEED that. Assholes.

My thanks to the DFP for being Detroit's "liberal" newspaper.

If it does pass in the MI legislature then the voters should petition to place it on a ballot for which they can vote to oppose it's enforcement like the voters of Ohio did when they opposed that anti-labor bill passed by the repukes in 2011. |
