Aid groups begin evacuating out of Rafah ahead of potential Israeli ground assault

The southern city of Rafah is the new front line in the Israel-Gaza war. "Rafah is really in chaos right now. People are on the move," said Arlan Fuller, director of emergency preparedness and response for Project HOPE.

The American nonprofit runs clinics across the world, including several in the Gaza Strip. But for now, its clinics in Rafah are closed.

Its team evacuated to other parts of Gaza, and people in Rafah are trying to do the same ahead of a potential full-scale assault on the city by Israeli forces. Complicating matters is the closure of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, which is leading to a lack of fuel.

"I think with the border closed, our ability to get supplies in as well as get fuel in and be able to have access for that for power — it is concerning," Fuller said. It's a concern facing all aid agencies trying to operate in Gaza.

It's bad enought that Egypt won't take Palestinian refugees, but to not let in aid there right now is creating horrific hardships.

Israel told Palestinians to evacuate Rafah and go west to the coast. There is no infrastructure there, no water , no food, no sewage system, no medical care, nothing to sustain life. How does this “protect” civilians? Israel has destroyed so much of Gaza that there is literally nowhere for people to escape the IDF attacks and still have access to food.

calling out Netanyahu about. Biden is citing the lack of adequate preparation for civilians in the planned attack at Rafah. He has offered humanitarian aid from the US and a choice to go after Hamas leaders using US Intel. By doing that, Biden is putting Netanyahu in the position of having a better alternative and being responsible if he refuses it. It is a showdown between Biden and Netanyahu with serious consequences.

Meantime, since Biden's offer has been made public, the Israeli people seem to be turning against Netanyahu in even larger numbers than before. Biden is on top of this and knows what he's doing.
