Trump says going to jail for gag order violation would be a 'great honor,' compares himself to Mandela

Source: CNBC

Published Sat, Apr 6 20246:14 PM EDT

Donald Trump on Saturday said he welcomed the prospect of going to jail for violating a gag order in his upcoming New York hush money trial.

“I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela — It will be my GREAT HONOR,” the former president wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post attacking New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over Trump’s case.

It was not the first time Trump has likened himself to a martyr as he faces a flurry of criminal charges. In an October rant against his various lawsuits, the Republican presidential frontrunner also compared himself to Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa who spent 27 years in prison for his anti-apartheid activism.

And last week, Trump took to Truth Social to share a message that likened his legal troubles to the persecution of Jesus Christ. Saturday’s tirade occurred just over a week before the trial is scheduled to begin on April 15.

side of a stark enclosure to the other for 20+ years under the heat of a relentless sun. Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years within three different prisons.

I have visited Robben Island, one of the three, and where Mandela spent most of his lengthy imprisonment. It remains today as one of the most stark symbols of the apartheid system in South Africa. https://www.robben-island.org.za/

For those who really have no idea who Mandela - one of the most courageous symbols of freedom in the 20th century, IMO - was, please check out this Wiki overview. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela

Mandela's autobiolgraphy, "Long Walk to Freedom," is also well worth a read. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Walk_to_Freedom

There is absolutely NO comparison whatsoever of tsf to Nelson Mandela! NONE! The mere fact he would say this shows what a delusional dolt he is!

Anyone who gives this utterance any credibility has gone right down the rabbit hole with him.

Every day, I look forward to reading nothing about tsf but his obituary. Please let it be soon! PLEASE!!!!!

I get that judges don't want to make a martyr of him, but, to mangle a metaphor, that ship has long since sailed, so I hope one of them just fucking does it, if for no reason other than to make him understand that he's not as special as he thinks he is. He'll keep threatening and insulting people no matter what is done with him, so he might as well get to spend a little time in government housing that isn't the White House.

to prevent her from going onto Planned Parenthood property. Predictably, she violated it, and we sought an order to show cause why she shouldn’t be held in contempt.

After the hearing, the judge sentenced her to 40 days in jail. I’d been back at the office about an hour when I got a call from the judge. He was changing her sentence to 37 days. “Oooookay. Can I ask why, your honor?” He didn’t like the religious connotations of the 40 days.

Then let him be honored in prison before nailing him up and dumping him in a tomb. He can prove that he's the chosen one 3 days later. We'll be happy to sit and wait.

Call it the Trump challenge. Don't just say who you are. Prove it.

Or, prove the Mandela analogy by spending the same amount of time in prison in the same conditions.

Mandela is a global hero.

Mandela toured the world after his release. ALL major cities in the US gave him keys to the city and great honoraria.

Except in Miami.

The Cuban exile community rejected him and the Miami city commission vacated their seats rather than present a statement honoring Mandela.

No key to the city of Miami.

Here's why ...

After he was released from prison, he thanked Cuba for their solidarity with the ANC and the help and support for the anti-apartheid movement.

Hahaha. I give Trump two weeks with no spray tan nor dyed combover before he agrees to whatever is necessary to get out of jail. Trump's enhanced image is part of his appeal to voters. Voters seeing the grotesque, pasty white, partially bald, old obese man screaming outlandish things about his opposition would easily cost him the election. The rapist is trying to goad someone into jailing him so he can become a martyr to the violent mob of ignoramouses who worship him. When he ran for president the first time, I watched an interview with Barbara Res who was an executive in the Trump Org for 18 years. She was asked to describe his management style. She said he liked to pit people against one another and sit back and enjoy the chaos. I judge everything he does through that lens, including his seemingly purposeful violations of gag orders.
