Major Cable Provider In Ohio Offering Anti-Obama Film For Free

Source: ThinkProgress

A major cable provider is offering a notorious anti-Obama movie to all its subscribers for free. The company, Armstrong Cable, operates in six states including Pennsylvania and the critical swing state of Ohio. The move comes just days after the Armstrong’s Chairman of the Board donated tens of thousands of dollars to the Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee.

The film, “2016: Obama’s America,” has been widely panned by fact checkers. Written and narrated by conservative author Dinesh D’Souza, it claims Obama’s “worldview…was largely shaped by the anti-colonalist, anti-white and anti-Christian politics of Obama’s supposedly radical Kenyan father,” who was largely absent from his life. The point of the movie, according to a review in the Washington Post, is to convince viewers “that Obama hates America.” It was panned as “fear-mongering of the worst kind.”

Fucking moronic asshole cable provider.

Make sure you let them know that you are cancelling or not considering their service in the future because of what they just did.

Unfortunately because of a lot of local restrictions, Armstrong cable is the only cable television provider in many areas in western PA. They also provide internet and telephone services, and frankly bundling all three services was convenient. I use the word was because after I first heard of this story a few days ago and I began the process of dumping all of their services, which will reflect a loss of approximately $200.00 a month from my household. Several of my friends are also changing providers, and from what I see posted on facebook, so are many others.

it is time to start economic sanctions against Mr Murdoch? That is democracy also. He has bought FOX and other businesses to use at his behest. If he has nobody to buy his products, you can make him suffer. He see he has gotten into sports and other ventures that he owns.

Seen by the same 24 dupes who went to see Atlas Shrugged. No one cares what Republicans have to say unless it's under oath, and even then no one believes them. Denish D'Souza is a major league jerkoff and a second hand fraudulent intellectual.

$100 if I would watch it. I said only if he would write that check out to Obama's campaign. He declined.

I have often wondered if he harps on me about being a Democrat because it bothers him I make him so much money. I have no complaints, he pays me well and I don't have to work in his neocon haven (I work from home).

Offering this for free could be a violation of campaign finance laws.

On edit:
If I did the math right, that would be the equivalent of 180 30sec spots. $18,000,000 in-kind donation.

The GOP can't win on ideas to solve America's challenges, all they have is fear to sell. So that's what they'll do. It's working very well among wingnut voters, sad to say.

Of ALL the films they could have featured... that was one of a handful in their featured films. Pissed me off to no end.

Even tho the POS that made the film has been outed as a fucking hypocrite philanderer.

Fuck Armstrong cable. they're so Damn STUPID. Hello? You're a business that provides cable services.. you KNOW the same type of business that lost millions of subscribers during the LAST republican recession in 2007??? People cut off their services because they couldn't afford it.

Those that bother to look at it are probably frothing at the mouth with Obama hatred already.

This one didn't fare well and Luntz determined it had a chance of backfiring.

Many conservatives also loved Mr. D’Souza’s film and wanted it to have wider distribution. It tested poorly, however, and Mr. Luntz warned his clients that it could undermine their cause.

Say what you will about Michael Moore, but I know at least several conservatives who saw "Sicko" and walked away if not with their minds changed, at least acknowledging that there's a big problem that needs fixing. Even Fox gave it a good review.

Comcast has this film at the top of their free movies list here in Tennessee. When I saw it, i immediately called their competitor, EPB Fiberoptics, and changed my cable/internet provider. I don't care if their top executives support Romney or other RepubEnrons, that is their right. When they openly politicize their businesses, however, I will not tacitly give my approval by continuing to patronize them. If Comcast chooses sides then I must choose sides also. The same goes for Domino's Pizza, which has run promotions stating that part of its revenues will go to right to life groups, and any others who engage in open support of people or causes that I find objectionable.
