Scott Van Duzer, the Obama hugger: Shop facing boycott

Source: Politico

“People are saying a lot of bad things and boycotting my restaurant,” Scott Van Duzer, 46, told POLITICO. “There’s no middle line anymore, and that’s exactly what’s wrong with our country right now.”

The owner of Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Fla., said that both Democrats and Republicans are welcome in his store. But he also said he thinks Mitt Romney’s running mate Rep. Paul Ryan — whose sculpted abs are thanks to intense P90X training sessions — would lose to the president in a workout battle.

Van Duzer’s June bike-trek was part of his Van Duzer Foundation, and helped raise awareness for blood donation shortages. Founded in 2008 to support a local firefighter whose house burned down, the foundation has since raised more than $600,000, Van Duzer said. Van Duzer said he rode with a few kids from the Boys and Girls Club and met with U.S. Surgeon General Regina M. Benjamin to discuss blood shortages.

Obama told The New York Times that Van Duzer’s effort in promoting blood donations was part of the reason the campaign decided to visit his pizza shop.

1. Sick

Sick that people are actually boycotting a restaurant for such a moronic reason. Hell, I wouldn't care if someone hugged Romney like that at a Restaurant, it might even lend further evidence to the theory that Romney may possibly be actually human.

10. I CALLED AND TRIED TO ORDER PIZZAS FROM THEM!

They told me that a lot of people are calling and ordering pizzas from them, to deliver to other people (homeless or nearby businesses, I guess) and it got very hectic for them. Now, they are directing people to go to their website, to donate: http://thevanduzerfoundation.org/

Leave it to a Democrat to think of others before themselves. This guy is just great, I tell you! I hope you donate; I just did!

11. actually he's a republican

He's just not a selfish douche only out for himself so he doesn't seem like a republican.

I understand that once many republicans were like him.

13. Nah, he just THOUGHT he was a Republican until he learned what they're really about.

A lot of people are waking up. A lot. You can't keep feeding people bullshit and then leave them hanging out to dry, when you actually do the job, without them eventually figuring out that you're full of crap. I think that's why people are waking up. They are tired of hearing the same old patriotic drum beating and Repubs wrapping themselves in the American flag while butchering our middle class economically. They are simply not buying the propaganda anymore.

19. If only it were true.

Look how many people believe in an Invisible Sky Daddy that bestows His blessing on the Country through Capitalism, Wealth & Big Money (even tho' the Bible shuns that). These are not rational, logical, or thinking people. They might as well throw virgins into the volcano.
