President Bill Clinton Personally Nominates Barack Obama for President.Last edited Wed Sep 5, 2012, 11:34 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2)

Bill Clinton DNC Speech Commands Spotlight On Wednesday Night CHARLOTTE, N.C. — President Barack Obama inherited a wreck of an economy, "put a floor under the crash" and laid the foundation for millions of good new jobs, former President Bill Clinton declared Wednesday night in a Democratic National Convention appeal aimed at millions of hard-pressed Americans yet to decide how to vote. "If you want a you're-on-your-own, winner-take-all society, you should support the Republican ticket," Clinton said. "If you want a country of shared prosperity and shared responsibility – a we're-all-in-this-together society – you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden." Obama's high command released excerpts of his remarks hours before Clinton's appearance as they worked to control the political fallout from an embarrassing retreat on the party platform. Under criticism from Republican challenger Mitt Romney, they abruptly rewrote the day-old document to insert a reference to God and to declare that Jerusalem "is and will remain the capital of Israel." Some delegates objected loudly, but Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, presiding in the largely-empty hall, ruled them outvoted. White House aides said Obama had personally ordered the changes, but they did not disclose whether he had approved the earlier version. 2. We're at an advantage because our former presidents are still well liked and respected.
|
Their former presidents are at best forgotten (bush41) or still hated (bush43). This means that they have no high profile surrogates like we do.

21. Clinton's Speech
|
Bill Clinton's speech was flawless, powerful and attacked Romney-Ryan on all the issues including their lies and their flawed policy recommendations. The only other thing I wish Clinton had mentioned was the GOP/Tea Party fear of knowledge and progress. Don't the Republicans remind us of Herodutus' recount of Xerxes' attempt to restrain and punish the sea with chains?

26. Not all our former Presidents
|
Jimmy Carter is nowhere to be seen. I think I read the pubs mentioned him more in their convention than their own nominee.

even the pukes here at work associate Clinton's presidency with a good economy. The only dig I hear about Bill is the Monica thing.

My only disappointment is Hillary was not there. According to Andrea Mitchell, she's in Timor that does not have good internet connection.
I'd love to meet Hillary someday, just to say "Thank You." |

|
At least according to the panel on MSNBC who all seemed to agree with the theory that Pres Clinton was making such a full throated endorsement to get Pres Obama reelected in order to make Hillary the next logical candidate.

Clinton just finished, Obama joining him on stage. I've been on my feet screaming "Big Dawg" for at least 30 minutes. I'm exhausted. And for the first time in over 35 years, I need a cigarette.
