Obama makes 'dog-on-top-of-car' joke about Romney
Source: USA Today
President Obama went there today, mocking opponent Mitt Romney over a 1980s incident in which he ferried the family dog atop his car during a vacation trip.
Speaking in Iowa, Obama noted that Romney criticized the usefulness of wind energy projects by saying "you can't drive a car with a windmill on it."
Ad-libbed Obama: "I know he's had other things on his car."
On the second day of a three-day bus tour of Iowa, Obama again called on Congress to extend a program of tax credits for wind energy manufacturers.
And, as he did last week in Colorado, he again criticized his Republican rival Romney opponents for opposing those tax credits.

(3,363 posts)On a local, personal level, a "friend" of mine is voting for Romney. She is a Lesbian and very politically involved. She has never gotten over Hillary's loss and she now "hates all politicians." But she is going to freaking pull the lever for Romney -- convinced that her vote won't count because her district swings 90% to Obama, etc.
She means it, too. She voted AGAINST Obama last time. <head explodes>
It is a very difficult friendship for me to maintain. We recently had lunch and she, as always, let me know her feelings. I felt that too often she gets in her little digs against Obama whilst claiming some moral high ground because she HATES THEM ALL (politicians). I'm supposed to say nothing while she tells me her supposedly thoughtful reasons for voting for Romney?????
Well, I took her to task, and apparently others did, too. I fought back harder than I've ever fought back -- with facts and questioning her reasoning. Today, she has sworn off all politics, saying it has become too contentious. She feels she listens to all the jokes, but no one likes when she sends stuff back about Obama. She thinks it's a double standard. It seems I wasn't the only one to fight back this time around. She is refusing all political emails from the left and right now. (I suppose that's progress.) I'm guessing she got an earful - or an inbox full!
I replied to her email anyway, saying, "Yeah, it's definitely too contentious. Only NOW the Dems are fighting back."

SCREW IT! Politics is a dirty business and sometimes you have to get down into the mud. When we take the high road, it's always taken us straight over a cliff - and allows the bad guys to win.
WINNING. In politics and power, it's all that counts.

Obama &Biden are smart, snarky, irreverent, and downright hilarious. It's a dagger right through the GOP's heart and I love it. I'm tired of our party being disrespected and mocked. Nobody can do that to Obama OR Biden. It's freaking awesome!

I know nobody ever went broke betting against the intelligence of the American people, but "You can't put a windmill on the roof of a car"? WTF !!!!
Has he seriously not heard of plug-in hybrids? Yeah, you can't drive them cross-country entirely on electricity generated from wind YET. But we most certainly have the technology available and in the marketplace TODAY that can handle most of your daily transportation needs with electrical power, and there is no reason that juice cannot be supplied by wind turbines.

They talk about oil pipeline that will only go to supply world needs not just US needs, and tying up refineries
They can't make money selling sunlight or wind so they are against it. They should be installing wind and solar on the mountain tops they are destroying, and learn they will replace many jobs.
