Four arrested in nuclear weapons protest at Livermore Lab

A planned act of civil disobedience at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory to mark the 67th anniversary of the atomic bombing on Hiroshima, Japan was "pretty uneventful," said a lab spokeswoman.

Anne Stark said a group of about 100 protesters gathered at William Payne Park across from the weapons lab at 4 p.m. Sunday for speeches and calls for a stop to nuclear weapons.

After the speeches, protesters moved across the street to the lab gates and did a symbolic foreclosure on the property.

Four protesters took part in the symbolic closure, and all were arrested, cited and released, Stark said.
