G.O.P. Governors Gather to Rally Around Romney
Source: NYT
After a rocky trip to Europe and Israel in which his remarks drew complaints from British and Palestinian leaders, Mitt Romney flew Thursday to Colorado, an important swing state, to try to regain his footing and refocus his campaign on his core message of renewing the economy.
It was a day to rally the Republican troops around him. At a high school auditorium here, near Aspen, he was backed by 10 Republican governors, including one vanquished rival Rick Perry of Texas and several politicians who have been subject of vice-presidential speculation, including Govs. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Chris Christie of New Jersey and Nikki R. Haley of South Carolina.
Mr. Perry, who endorsed Newt Gingrich when he dropped out of the nominating fight in January, said to Mr. Romney that Im proud to stand with you on this stage, and told the crowd of a few hundred that Colorados energy industry would get a much better shake from Mr. Romney.
The difference between the current president of the United States and the next president of the United States is that this man trusts you, Mr. Perry said.

But no one can trust Rmoney.

(4,528 posts)Either the campaign is out of touch or RMoney is. He keeps having fundraisers in very posh expensive settings that just let's everyone know that he is better than the rest of us.
He jut can't get that common man thing down even though he wears "mom's jeans".
Michelle at the Olympics get's hugs from the basketball team. Everyone knows that obama is a hooper. The game of the ghetto. It is the game that costs the least to participate in.
The Romney's own horses.
Remember "you people", you are not in our league.

If Mittwit can't fill a high school auditorium ~ he is in big trouble.
And his "Backers" hate him I am sure ~ wish I was a fly on the wall for their little talk.

I live in Phoenix, AZ this year near ASU so filter my cynicism.
My Governor Jan Brewer and Dick Chaney have both invested heavily in private prisons, a red state bonanza. These governors have business to discuss at the Hilton after the "meeting".
My friend... Illegal Mexican student arrested again for being an alien. He is held 14 months in Brewers private prison awaiting a short bus ride back to the border. There are two flights a day to Mexico City just for prisoners as well. His cell is tiny. We pay the Governor enough to put him up at Motel 6 and meals from Boston Mamas while he doesn't get a pillow and eats soup kitchen slop. A GOP pedophile on his cell block ate steak and eggs with the guards.
GOP governors are making fortunes with private prisons and who knows what else. They have things to discuss.
The bus finally took him to Juarez Mexico and he beat the bus back to Phoenix with a few ounces of pot and two cases of Marlboro's at $2 a pack.
Did I mention the governor misplaced $60 mil for poor home owners and the prison was a federally funded project. Dick and Jan work very hard for our money in those back rooms.

(32,077 posts)Whoa whoa. Please edit that out before this post gets hidden. You've got a great point re private prison but try to discuss issues more maturely than a 14-year-old.
And do you remember the 2010 escape of the three murderers from the private Arizona prison?

BTW, my 14 YO granddaughter would never use such crass and shallow references. Show some respect.
Thank you for the tip. I will shape up.
