Mitt Romney Would End Wind Energy Tax Credit

Source: Huffington Post

Mitt Romney would end a tax credit for wind energy producers if he's elected, his campaign confirmed to the Des Moines Register Monday, setting a clear contrast with President Barack Obama on the issue.

"He will allow the wind credit to expire, end the stimulus boondoggles, and create a level playing field on which all sources of energy can compete on their merits," Iowa campaign spokesman Shawn McCoy said in a statement to the paper. "Wind energy will thrive wherever it is economically competitive, and wherever private sector competitors with far more experience than the president believe the investment will produce results."

Support for the wind energy tax credit could be a big issue in Iowa, which has the highest number of wind energy jobs in the country, according to the Register.

Romney joins a number of other Republicans in opposing the tax break, under the argument that it costs too much -- around $1.6 billion this year -- and props up businesses with government subsidies.

6. Someone should check his donor list to see if big oil is willing to give up their subsidies...

To get to the real reason behind his strategy. Will he just cut alternative energy, or the energy companies, too, to be fair?

The latter doesn't seem likely with the team he's got, and his association with Darth.

And will he tell all those Iowa farmers to give up their crop subsidies?

Of course we'll never know, since they won't release his donor names to the public. We've got to get Disclose passed before the election...

11. Let's find out how much Mitt and his buddy donors have into dirty energy.

Because that's what the issue is here. $20B in subsidies for oil. $1.6B in subsidies for wind. Climate change is real. Mitt is obviously terraforming our planet, which explains the Mormon alien connection. See? Figured it out.

13. Can someone explain to me how giving billions in subsidies to Big Oil and cutting

the wind credit "levels the playing field"?

18. Well it does for the extremely rich who are heavily invested in Big Oil.

And you know, those guys need a "level playing field".

14. Everyone mentions Big Oil, but let's not forget the nukes

If nuclear power had to compete on a level playing field, without the government distorting the free market, there probably wouldn't be any civilian nuclear power plants.
