EU nations react with surprise, defiance to Trump remarks

Source: Associated Press

Kirsten Grieshaber and Raf Casert, Associated Press Updated 6:47 am, Monday, January 16, 2017

BERLIN (AP) — European Union nations reacted with surprise and defiance Monday to comments made by President-elect Donald Trump, who said in an interview that NATO was "obsolete" and hinted that more member states would leave the 28-nation EU.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, speaking ahead of an EU foreign ministers meeting, said Trump's view on NATO and criticism that allied members weren't paying their fair share has "caused astonishment."

His French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault added that the best response to such an interview was simple — Europeans uniting together.

Even though Trump had make similar comments during his tempestuous election campaign, a repeat of the same points still hit Europe hard and still came as a bit of a surprise, since his choice for defense secretary, General James Mattis, has stressed his support for the alliance in his U.S. congressional confirmation hearings last week.

2. Of course, the NATO alliance was only mobilized once, to help the US in Afghanistan after 9/11.

You remember 9/11, dRumpfenfuhrer? That's the time you saw thousands of American moslems dancing in the streets celebrating the attacks.

Remember how you ran your campaign based on that outrage, tried to use the attacks to scapegoat religious minorities in the US? You do have the best memory, you told us so.

Too bad you don't remember which news source you saw that celebration on.

Because people might think you're a lying nazi demagogue, if you can't tell the public what network you remember showed that footage.

he's continuing to do the bidding of his master, Pootie Poot. Putin hates NATO as it alone keeps him from invading Ukraine and other Eastern European states, drumpf just does what Pootie says. He's driven by carrot and stick. Carrot is Russian oligarchs buying up his hugely overpriced mansions when the sanctions are removed, which will happen first thing. Count on it! Stick is all the tape they have on him behaving badly. There may be other carrots, like his loans with Russian banks getting closed or sticks like them calling in the balance that's past due on these loans. There also could be other things they have on drumpf, like tape of him accepting $$ diretly from Russia while running for president? Either way, we are fucked with the racist, misogynistic, lying, childish assface with his tiny fingers on the nuclear trigger.

He has insukted our Intel agencies over and over and over (and GW Bush reportedly gave Obama one piece of advice: don't mess with the intel agencies) and now he is going to mess with NATO? He really doesmthink he is untouchable, doesnt he? Foreign intel agencies are furiously trying to get that compromisng info out - and they WILL drop it.
He is a foolish, foolish man. Hubris takes every single person down.

7. Dear World

Dear Leaders of the World,

Please, please turn your back on this man.
In any other democracy the winner would have won, Hillary Clinton would have been the president in a normal world.

Now there is an abnormal president. A crazy man.

Just like numbskulls were drawn to Hitler, lunatics were drawn to Mussolini, deplorables were drawn to Donald.
A man who has mocked the sick, denigrated the Pope, demanded allegiance, called those who voted against him his enemy, he demanded his opponent be jailed, and on and on and on.

He isn't fit to be a garbage man, let alone president. But president he is.

So ignore him. Shun him. Laugh at him.

Maybe he'll get so upset he'll quit. He's old. Maybe his bloated piggy self with just give out.

But if the World turns their back on him he'll have less power.

thank you,

sanity

tRump and his advocacy of Putin should be a warning to everyone as to what is coming. Russia has material that tRump cannot allow exposed, it would end his presidency. He is willing to sacrifice Western Europe, the NATO alliance and millions of people. It won't bother him one bit to see Europe slide into war as he watches passively. As tRump poops in his golden toilet Russia will collect on its blackmail material and finish what it has started in its western reaches.

Trump so far has been extremely pro Russia and pro right wing Israel.

Israel considers the Shiites the big problem and is less concerned with ISIS.

Russia hates ISIS and is pretty much allied with all the Shiite countries and movements.

Eventually Trump will have to decide to offend one or the other in the course of his foreign policy.

My guess is Putin will scuttle his attempt to re negotiate the Iran deal and then he will have a fallout with Netanyahu.
