In 2010, Donald Trump agreed to do a cameo appearance in Oliver Stone's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
Trump has appeared in lots of movies before, but this was one of his first cameos since becoming an entertainment icon on the strength of The Apprentice. And Stonewith his own taste for controversial, even disastrous presidencieswas one of the splashier directors to have offered Trump a role, albeit a tiny one: In the scene, Michael Douglas's character, Gordon Gekko, goes to the barbershop and finds himself sitting in a chair next to Trump, who is about to get his infamous mop trimmed.
The scene never made it into the final film, but it was an absolute ordeal to shootnot least because Trump's people sent the filmmakers a ridiculous memo containing hyperspecific demands for how their star could be shot.

The email reveals Trump's obsession with his physical appearance. It requests that the Donald be filmed under "warm golden lighting" to accentuate his "warm golden" skin and "defined jaw-line." It also instructs the cinematographer to shoot Trump "front face to camera," while avoiding his left hair part. Trump also requested his own monitor so he could see himself after being shot, a request the crew found ridiculous.

Eric Kopeloff, the film's producer, said, "Never, ever, have I seen anything like this. Not from the biggest movie stars in the world... It was like you're going back into the 1940s, and you're getting a note from the head of the studio."
You have to read the actual email from Trump's people, which is included in the article.
And yes, this is trivial compared to the serious charges against him. But it does reveal more about the extent of his vanity.

(115,683 posts)but obviously these instructions were intended to hide the fact that his hair is thinning, he has a double chin, and his skin is an unnatural shade of orange (probably why they wanted to avoid red tones).

(6,915 posts)I've worked with the producers and director mentioned, and 170 other movies. I can assure you, such a list is laughable. I was not there, but Oliver Stone does not suffer fools well. Any actor demanding the DP use "golden lighting" and only shoot particular angles would be laughed off the set.
I think he took advice from Joan Rivers, who earned the right to be "particular", to be excessively polite.

(26,290 posts)have been an issue of him simply trying to make sure he looks good at all times even in films because hes trying to sale the image of Donald Trump to potential investors.

That is how professionals do it, proving once again he is a B-list Reality-TV celebrity like his follower Omrosa or those ladies from "Housewives of Atlanta."
Last thing, I know and have worked with Oliver Stone's DP and he has an Oscar or two for his DP skills. Like he and Stone are gonna take instructions from Trump and his Trumpettes.
Never gonna happen.

(27,806 posts)I mean, I don't like how I photograph, usually, I look terrible, so I kind of get where he's coming from, but given that he's all about demeaning other peoples' appearances, I think it would be quite satisfying to see him from his worst angles.
