Ethics chairman calls on Priebus to 'stand up' for the interests of the GOP

Source: The Hill

House Ethics Committee Chairman Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) on Sunday called on the Republican Party leaders to "stand up" for the interests of the GOP in light of Donald Trump's lewd statements about women.

"Look, will Donald Trump withdraw from the race? No. Should he? Yes. So I feel that we have to do something here. We have a Republican Party. We have to look out for what's in the best interest of the Republican Party, the whole party," he said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week." He then urged Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus to "do what's in the best interest of the entire party."

"But, again, as a party leader, I think at times you have to stand up and do some pretty difficult things, and this may be one of them right now. And the chairman, you really must stand up and do what's in the best interest of the entire party."

"But, you know, this isn't just about the party; it's about the country. I'm disturbed not just by all these incendiary comments, but also the policy issues from Russia to NATO comments, and on it goes," Dent added.

Stand up for the best interest of the entire party? What exactly does that mean? Stand up how? Do what? Priebus or anyone else can't force Trump out, and he ain't leaving. I don't often (ever!) carry Priebus's water, but really, what can he do, except denounce Trump, who couldn't care less what Reince Priebus says or does.

It sounds like Dent is just huffing and puffing, hoping the Trumpian house will fall down.

They want to keep Trump on the ballot to hold onto voters,
they want to remove Trump from the ballot to hold onto voters

One of the two choices will occur

You can bet the pollsters have OT this week

I expect a hybrid - 'Trump will be on the ballot but is removed,
Pence will assume office if we win, his running mate is Ted Cruz
even though he's not on the ballot.'

Got it?

No. For now, it is about your Manchurian Candidate. It is about your party disintegrating into a pile of ashes.
And I am loving every goddamn minute.
