In our opinion: Donald Trump should resign his candidacy (The Deseret News)

Source: Deseret News

For 80 years, the Deseret News has not entered into the troubled waters of presidential endorsement. We are neutral on matters of partisan politics. We do, however, feel a duty to speak clearly on issues that affect the well-being and morals of the nation.

Accordingly, today we call on Donald Trump to step down from his pursuit of the American presidency.

In democratic elections, ideas have consequences, leadership matters and character counts.

The idea that women secretly welcome the unbridled and aggressive sexual advances of powerful men has led to the mistreatment, sorrow and subjugation of countless women for far too much of human history.

The Deseret News (www.deseretnews.com) is the first news organization and the longest continuously-operating business in the state of Utah. Owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons).

I suspect this is big among the Mormons.

THE D News is a propaganda arm of the Mormon Church. The sheeple are taught from the cradle RM (Republican/Mormon) is the only way to vote. Our corrupt Republican controlled legislature is a prime example. It's all about control. Regardless of how he was/is polling in Utah, the faithful will vote for the RM first.

The masses will still vote the R ticket. It would be nice if people in this state would vote for their better interests rather than what Mom & Dad and Grandpa & Grandma have always voted.

I'm not sure what are you saying is BS? It's published in the paper, are you saying it's not really what the paper thinks?

The business arm of the Mormon church owns Deseret News, there's no secret about that. The editorial content and advertising of the paper most definitely reflects the church's values. Trump doesn't reflect those values. That makes sense, right?

And come on, it's all about control? That's a bit conspiracy theorist. And if you think all Mormons vote Republican you certainly must live in that small bubble that is certain communities in Utah. Even in Utah there are plenty of Mormon Democrats, but outside of Utah there are many. And the church isn't just about US politics, there are general authorities who live in socialist countries and the church seems okay with that.

My point is it there's no Republican/Mormon thing, it's a Republican/Mormon/Utah-rural-suburb-community-or-utah-valley thing. Outside of Utah it's completely different.

For which there is a NOT entirely unreasonable case to be made (trust me, I'm a Mesa homeowner) ... it's not COMPLETELY different everywhere outside of Utah ...

I just have a hard time figuring out why these asshats didn't see all along exactly what this guy is. Then again, I am not schooled in Doublethink like so many in the GOP are.
