Jill Stein to be charged with vandalism

Still thinking about casting a vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein? If so, perhaps one of the things you like about her is her well known opposition to fossil fuels, pipelines and, well
pretty much anything that keeps the lights on which doesnt involved a windmill. Shes certainly dedicated to the cause, as she demonstrated (literally and figuratively) in North Dakota this week. But rather than simply voicing her displeasure with a local pipeline project, she decided to take it one step further and commit some vandalism. (Inforum)
More than 100 protesters gathered at a Dakota Access Pipeline construction site Tuesday where two people bound themselves to bulldozers and Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was meeting with pipeline opponents.
A woman and a man attached themselves to equipment east of State Highway 6 using the same type of casting material used by demonstrators last week. The gathering began about 10 a.m. Tuesday northwest of the main pipeline protest site. About 75 people remained by 12:30 p.m.
That report doesnt really get into the vandalism aspect of the story, but theres evidence available which leaves the question in little doubt. The video of Stein engaging in the spray painting is embedded in this tweet from a local news station.

I know this isn't a mainstream source, but CNN has also reported it, but they don't have anything on their site yet.
I'll update when they do.

(38,958 posts)doing something and I don't think spray painting the blade of a bulldozer would really result in too much damage to the unit.
The real vandalism is the driving over the Sacred Native Grounds with those bulldozers.
And yeah, I'm willing to listen to what she has to say. I don't think she might be the person I would eventually choose, but I am willing to listen to a variety of ideas.

(5,902 posts)The governor of North Dakota claims there'd be no risk to the Sioux people's drinking water.
Yet he personally nixed a previous route for the same pipeline that would have been built near Bismarck because (wait for it) it would be a risk to their drinking water.
Another Rick Snyder in the making (bribery included, I suspect).

(613 posts)Stein will be charged but the guys who hired the dog handlers, and the dog handlers themselves, won't be charged for assaulting unarmed peaceful demonstrators, elders and children among them.
Priceless.

(4,869 posts)I'm not a Stein supporter but using a far right blog to attack her for trying to protect Native American sacred land it beyond pathetic.

(6,107 posts)I agree with her position 100%, but I don't approve of her actions as a presidential candidate. I understand why but she just shouldn' have done it.

As I noted originally, even though I heard about this first on CNN at the time it was posted that was the only source, and I said that.
The fact remains, regardless of the documented source at the time, the story is still the same.

(14,910 posts)Good on you!
While I'm no fan, and support our party nominee, Jill was actually participating in civil disobedience while you did what?
Civil disobedience isn't always pretty.
It isn't always clean.
Or legal.
That's what it is, though.
So far there's been ONE member of Congress to officially condemn these actions, and unfortunately, it isn't the former Congresswoman from New York...
But you take your digs on those who are committing to whatever actions possible to defend sacred land and chalk up your +1...you deserve it!
