A Lone gunman executed a revered Queens imam and his friend as the pair walked home from Saturday prayers, blasting each in the back of the head without a word, officials said.

Mosque leader Maulama Akonjee and friend Thara Uddin were dressed in Muslim garb when the killer “approached from behind and shot” from point-blank range, said NYPD Deputy Inspector Henry Sautner of the Queens South Detective Bureau.

Akonjee, 55, a married father of three, was a respected religious leader since his arrival in Queens from Bangladesh less than two years ago. The bearded Uddin, 65, died about four hours after the attack.

“We are all crying,” said his brother Mashuk Uddin. “There’s so much crying.”

Ozone Park has always been working class and, in recent decades, heavily populated with immigrants from many places. Immigrants have historically been a target for crimes of opportunity.

Time will tell.

Trump's has mouthed off about deporting all Muslims, his disrespect of the Khan family and dismal failure for it in the press and polls. Add to that his request of his 2nd Amendment friends to take care Hillary. The neanderthals that worship him do not need much encouragement from the mafia Don.

Yeah, he's to blame.

have said some really nasty things about Trump. Some of those things even insinuate his demise in a painful manner. Let's say Trump is assassinated tomorrow. The killer says he was inspired by his "brothers and sisters" at the DU who also despise Trump.

Are some of us culpable?

regardless of whether or not we are running for POTUS.

Trump ought to be answerable for his bigotry. But, at the same time, anyone who chooses to murder another human being can't sidestep his or her own heinous actions by pinning it on a scummy politician.

that I see all over the internet by Hispanics is really appalling. It was terrible here in SoCal after the San Bernardino massacre. Far and away the worst, most horrible blanket generalizations and hate speech then were from Hispanics. I was stunned.

This has been well documented. If it is left unchecked and unopposed, it leads to things like The Holocaust. This is why we need to take Trump's divisive and hate-filled, racist, bigoted language very, very seriously. And we need to fight back against it with everything we can muster.

We can't let this become normalized behavior. We have to call it what it is. It is a hate-crime. We have to teach our children to value inclusion, respect, compassion and love. Love is the only thing that can conquer hate. Where is all of this hatred coming from?

I fear for the future of our country.
