Letter: Trump’s military record speaks for itself

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by NH Ethylene (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Salt Lake Tribune

As a retired 30-year Marine Corps reservist who made four trips to Asia as a Marine but missed combat by two weeks, I want my fellow Utah veterans to know that Donald Trump applied for and received five military draft deferments, thereby avoiding any military service.

And now he wants to be commander in chief. A basic rule of American military service is that we are not obligated to obey any illegal order, yet he has said he would issue them, such as torturing prisoners and killing the enemies' families.

His military record and knowledge stands for itself.

Hope you enjoy the DU water cooler; lots of great updates and info - and sometimes a little intrigue too!

We laugh; but if the Kochsuckers take over we'll be lucky if we can keep even half of however many we do still have.

Truth be told, my logon was more the result of plain, old-fashioned writer's block than any conservationist or environmentalist concerns.

I had two or three others in mind; but alas they had already been taken. My mind then wandered to one of my past addresses, you see - and so, forest444 it was. It's not too imaginative; but it's simple and alliterative, don't you think?

Between you and me, I'm a little tired of it and - if I can - might change it. I'll definitely let you know if I do.

Have been for a long time. They have a real "thing" about adoration for chickenhawk "leaders."

ComradeTrump's insults to the military and our POWs are just the cherries on Republican ice cream. They love to wave the flag and claim "patriotism" but when it comes to legislation you can depend on the Republicans to screw the veterans over and over and over. They are notorious.

For example, Republicans brutally slashed the budget that would make it possible for our military to protect our USA overseas diplomats and their offices. Then when Benghazi happened and we had inadequate protection, the Republicans go FREAKING BALLISTIC trying to blame someone else (Hillary).

That pattern speaks volumes about Republican "character" and loyalty to the men and women who put their lives on the line for the USA.

So it's not surprising that the Republicans have once again ASSUMED THE POSITION in worship of an blowhard assclown with Five Military Deferments.

Thats kind of an insult, IMO. He's saying he's one of those people, it seems to me.

But no, he was never Dick Cheney. Thankfully, theres only ONE of them

On Trump's last deferment, he was classified as 4F. This indicates he was physically or mentally unacceptable for military service. Since he now wants to be president of the United States, we are entitled to know what his physical or psychological limitations are.
