Trump: Republicans 'have no choice' but to vote for me
Source: The Hill
Donald Trump said Thursday that Republicans wary of his campaign have little choice but to vote for him anyway.
"If you really like Donald Trump, that's great, but if you don't, you have to vote for me anyway. You know why? Supreme Court judges, Supreme Court judges," Trump said at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"Have no choice, sorry, sorry, sorry. You have no choice," Trump continued, calling the late Justice Antonin Scalia a "great guy" and acknowledging tied decisions at the Supreme Court after his death.
Trump said the next president "will probably have three, could be four, could even be five" appointments to make to the Supreme Court, alluding to the ages of senior justices.

(6,241 posts)"Lesser of two evils" thing. Who do they hate more? Hillary or Trump? Who is more likely to appoint judges they'd like? Who is more likely to push agendas they like?
People on both sides of the aisle are doing some serious soul searching right now. That includes Bernie supporters

(11,518 posts)Not for THIS Bernie supporter anyway. I've lived through enough election cycles to understand that (in our predominantly 2 party system) we have Choice A and Choice B. It doesn't take much of a genius to quickly figure out which of our two choices are going to come closest to supporting our views, appointing the Supreme Court justices that will uphold the laws we need, and keep us in good standing with other nations around the world.

(4,225 posts)There are areas that I disagree with Hillary, but this Bernie supporter ain't letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. (And if Hillary sticks to the current platform that both Hillary and Bernie supporters put together, instead of reverting to her positions circa ten years ago, I'll be in alignment with her 90%+ of the time.)
I'm more than capable of seeing that the only thing I can expect under Trump is for this country to rapidly disintegrate into a fascist hellhole.
Yes it took me a while to "get over it" but I suspect most Bernie supporters will come around, just like disappointed Hillary supporters came around to Obama in the 2008 general election.

(10,704 posts)If there actually are any undecided "Bernie supporters" thinking of not voting for Clinton then:
1. They are are not Democrats
2. They are not actually supporters of Bernie Sanders
3. They are either infantile narcissists or Trump people or both.
In any event they are not Democrats and should go find their their spiritual home elsewhere and leave the Democratic Party alone. The lesson I hope has been learned. Big tent is one thing but no more parasitical carpetbaggers.
And when Sanders runs again in Vermont I anticipate he will have a Democrat primary challenge who might be worth supporting.

(50,557 posts)I really expect Donald to start using Goldwater's campaign slogan, "in your heart, you know he's right" pretty soon.
Because in my guts, I know he's nuts.
I meme'd it out for you and tweeted it to Donald

(36,745 posts)For the latter, Johnson is a viable candidate. We need to encourage the anti-trump vote in anyway we can.
ericson00
(2,707 posts)it would lower the vote denominator, and increase Hillary's percent of the vote (her mandate).

(50,557 posts)Everyone should absolutely vote for Hillary. But there are a number of people who can't do it; if we can convince a third of all right-wing voters to cast their lot with Gary Johnson, it totally screws Trump.

(10,704 posts)... will continue to have an uphill struggle with dead-enders. And of course the misogyny. She has overcome so much already but still the misogyny runs deep and "progressive" white men are very prone to it!
Let's carry her forward as our champion. She deserves it. And she will do us proud.
She will choose great Supreme Court justices.
She will overturn Citizens United
She will preserve reproductive rights
She will protect the environment
She will reign in the terrorism of the NRA and the madness of open carry
I could go on....but I won't!

(22,669 posts)I see his support crumbling. Republicans may still vote in the election, but they may just not vote for a presidential candidate. They've watched to much and listened to too much RW radio to think otherwise, but the truth is they probably are indifferent to the likes of their unqualified candidate.

(1,723 posts)Trump will continue to characterize Hillary as Crooked Hillary. Crooked Hillary versus the Bully or the Mean Guy is unlikely to be successful for Hillary. But, in my opinion, Crooked Hillary versus the Loose Cannon tilts the contest toward Hillary. Crooked can be debated, but every time Trump opens his mouth, most of his history, everything validates the label of Loose Cannon. And, a Loose Cannon is someone who is scary and dangerous.

(23,097 posts)I have a good friend who's also a Repug, but she's not a knuckle dragger, she's old school. She never voted for criminal Scott nor will she vote for Drumpf. She recognizes that he's a major danger to our country and is sitting this one out. She's (unfortunately) too indoctrinated about Hillary to vote for her. I'm totally OK with her not voting for president, lol.
