Liberal groups withdraw endorsement of Alan Grayson following domestic violence report
Source: The Miami Herald
Two liberal backers of U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's Senate campaign withdrew their endorsements Tuesday.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America both cut ties with the Orlando Democrat, citing a Politico report claiming Grayson's ex-wife reported domestic violence to police on four occasions.
"After todays revelations of years of police reports about allegations of domestic abuse involving Alan Grayson, we are no longer willing to support and are formally withdrawing our endorsement of him in the race for U.S. Senate," leaders with PCCC and DFA said in a joint statement.
The groups also called on Grayson to donate their members' campaign contributions to a domestic violence charity in Orlando.

And the divorce was a year ago.

(12,778 posts)On one hand, I'm a firm "innocent until proven guilty" guy. On the other, I can't stand Grayson and can easily see him slapping his (bigamist) wife. Then again, she's a nut job who assaulted him and then claimed that he tried to assault her.

(11,641 posts)by claiming he hadn't done anything wrong during the marriage.
Lolita Grayson's most recent claim in 2014 was completely refuted by video evidence and the daughter's sworn statement.
The couple's oldest daughter issued a statement to POLITICO, saying her father had done nothing wrong throughout the marriage. Skye Grayson, 21, said she and her siblings did not want to be pawns in a game of power with an unnamed political opponent.
My mother has always struggled with emotional issues, said Skye Grayson, who noted that several of the older children chose to live with their dad. She physically lashed out at me, my siblings and our father, and then blamed us for it, victimizing us. This resulted in a considerably troubled childhood home.
Skye Grayson herself was accused at one point of domestic abuse by her mother. In November 2013, Lolita Grayson told the Orange County Sheriff's Office that her daughter slapped the phone out of her hand as she dialed 911 after an argument erupted over Skye Grayson smoking in her car. No arrests were made.
