WikiLeaks to publish more Hillary Clinton emails - Julian Assange

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by one_voice (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: The Guardian

Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, has said his organisation is preparing to publish more emails Hillary Clinton sent and received while US secretary of state.

Assange’s comments came in an interview on ITV’s Peston on Sunday. “We have upcoming leaks in relation to Hillary Clinton … We have emails pending publication, that is correct,” Assange said. He did not specify when or how many emails would be published.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here yet. Regardless of what you think of Clinton's email scandal and/or Assange and WikiLeaks, this sure looks like latest breaking news to me.

that he already has in his searchable cache of emails?

He's just looking for free publicity. We don't need to give it to him.

4. Because

Because he's talking about previously unpublished emails, NOT emails already published. The mere fact that he claims to have them is news, thus the Guardian article. Whether more do get published by WikiLeaks or not, time will tell.

So he'll take whatever publicity he can drum up, till people realize that he's released a pile of nothingburgers.

The 50,547 pages of documents span from 30 June 2010 to 12 August 2014. 7,570 of the documents were sent by Hillary Clinton. The emails were made available in the form of thousands of PDFs by the US State Department as a result of a Freedom of Information Act request. The final PDFs were made available on February 29, 2016.

WikiLeaks put a Boolean search feature on them?

He's not talking about those emails. WikiLeaks hosted a mirror of those months ago. The Guardian is just mentioning that, and a bunch of other things, to provide context. Read the article. Assange is talking about posting previously unseen emails.

Here's the direct question and answer from the interview:

Peston of ITV: Do you have any of the undisclosed emails?

Assange: We have upcoming leaks in relation to Hillary Clinton, which is great. ... We have emails relating to Hillary Clinton pending publication, that is correct.

You obviously haven't been following the news about this very much. Clinton turned over 30,000 emails in late 2014, saying those were all her work related emails. She deleted another 31,000, saying those were all personal. Since then, more of her work emails keep coming out. For instance, the recent State Department inspector general's report mentioned several previously unpublished ones, including a couple talking about hacking attacks on her server. There are others that have come out, for instance 150 work emails between her and Huma Abedin came out last month. There also were leaks of emails between her and David Petraeus, her and Sid Blumenthal, etc... - all work related and all not part of the 30,000 she turned over.

So yeah, there's lots of emails previously unseen by the public so far. Clearly, she didn't turn over all her work emails, despite signing an oath under threat of perjury in August 2015 that she did just that.

It's an attempt to exploit Hillary's emails for political purposes.

We see that now.

Not vilified.
He is proving that there is no openness in our government. When he points it out, as did Manning, all the powers that be want to do is to continue hiding their secrets, and lock the guy up.
They should be pinning medals on him!
I look forward to any leaks he has!

If they have something damaging, it would have made sense to publish it a few months ago when people were still voting. If it is not damaging, then who the hell cares at this point? We already know she used her personal server, she didn't ask for the proper permission, and she didn't turn over all the emails. If it is not sufficient for her to be indicted or forced to withdraw, it is just a meaningless distraction.
