Democrats pile on Bernie Sanders over "bulls***" Donald Trump debate

Bernie Sanders' openness to debate Donald Trump ahead of California's primary -- an idea first floated during a "Jimmy Kimmel Live" interview with the presumptive GOP nominee Wednesday -- has some Democratic lawmakers fuming.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, told Politico Thursday that the possibility of a debate was "bulls***."

"That confirms what we've been saying," Manchin told the news site. "Why would you expect Bernie should be considerate or be nice or be working to bring everyone together? Why? He's not a Democrat."

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, whose state holds its primary on June 7, posited that the debate was a publicity ploy.

"What he's trying to do," Feinstein told Politico, "is bring attention to himself."...............

As a lifelong Democrat its embarrassing to be associated with such unintelligent, smug remarks. Sanders rolled Trump and made him look like the coward Michael Moore claimed he was. Saying he got played just shows bias clouds one's judgement. And if the debate did happen Bernie would've debated Trump about Trump and NOT drawn Hillary into it. One must really miss what he's all about to not see that. It would've helped Clinton tearing apart Trump if she ended up being the nominee. And anyone complaining he is really an independent is also being stubbornly stupid because if he ran as one Clinton could never even come close to winning and Trump could but not necessarily win. These purported Democrats said Stop Bush...Clinton didn't stop him remember? She enabled him and voted for the Iraq War. And on top of it Hillary and Bill have been called "honorary Bush family members" numerous times by different members of the Bush family. And no Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Obama etc don't get that gratuitous title. One should really ask themselves who is really on our side and look deep within past all the superficial labels.

Once the path to victory is clear and inevitable (as it's been for some weeks), there is no incentive for the front-runner to debate with the loser. That's been true of every campaign for many decades. The front-runner stands to gain nothing (despite your naive and shallow summary), while the loser can hope to score points while circling the drain.

It would be a straight-up gift to Sanders if she were to debate him, so it's not going to happen.

Rather than complain about the front-runner acting as front-runners always do, why don't you complain about Sanders' utter failure to educate his supporters in the primary requirements of their respective states? His failure to engage in this basic and essential function of the electoral process speaks poorly of his ability to mobilize his supporters in an ultimately significant way.

But I'm tired of arguing bullshit with Sanders' supporters who are doing their best to get Trump elected, so I'm done here.

Who gives away 90 minutes of free airtime to attack the opponent in "the general election" that's gaining ground on them?

She's debated Sander's before, predictable stuff. I understand you don't want to hear this but a smart candidate would use the free air time to turn the debate to Trump..

Also she previously agreed to debate Sanders in CA.. So we're just adding to the long list of reasons why only 37% of the public thinks she's trustworthy...

As far as Sanders campaign.. He's a 74 year old Independent Socialist who stepped into the Dem party and took the race to a establishment Democratic party icon and took her all the way to the convention... It's Hillary who limps into the general with a pending FBI report and the worst negatives than any Democratic candidate for president in recorded history...

I've seen so many of his videos, many of the different speeches he's given and am always amazed at how in tune he is with the problems not just in the U.S., but all over the world. He's honest, empathetic and REAL to all those thousands - sometimes tens of thousands who line up to hear him speak time after time. If he had a single, boring stump speech they wouldn't bother - they could just watch it on YouTube or Facebook.

Speaking of finger wagging - better look elsewhere, too. And of course he has to finally 'interrupt'/try to claim some of his time when his debate opponent is fucking stealing it all.

I've been a Dem my entire life.

I'm so turned off by the party right now I honestly don't know how I'll be voting in November. I never thought I would be able to say that.

The other ptoblem i have with bernie is all the threatening shit makes me say fuck it. I would rather see trump as president then be threatened by bernie supporters about not voting. They are not the only ones that can talk shit about not voting again.

Sat May 28, 2016, 01:06 AM
May 2016

That is when it got absurd. He should have backed off the moment Trump starting putting a multi-million price tag that seemed to increase by the minute. Instead, Bernie started bending over backwards trying to get networks to host the debate and soliciting outside groups like TYT to contribute to Trump's monetary demands.

The fact that Trump was pledging the money to charity just added insult to injury, because Trump could still claim a write off, and Trump would use it to grand stand that he supported women's health issues the way he did with veterans. Instead of looking like a serious candidate, Bernie resembled a contestant on the Apprentice.

Quoting DINOs who say Sanders isn't a Democrat is what those "experienced" Clinton supporters say fires them up?

They don't get it. Sanders is not a Democrat like THEM. Some people are sick of the Democratic Party leadership and organization. Some people think the national party leadership is the cause of their own troubles that they blame Sanders for.

When Barbara Boxer whined she "feared for her life" at a Nevada convention, it was a pathetic display of victimhood from people trying to convince us they are invincible.

Sat May 28, 2016, 03:03 AM
May 2016

Why are they outraged over a Democrat wanting to show the diffrences between the party that stands for the people and the party that stands for the corporations?

You'd think we'd be APPLAUDING those who are willing to call Trump on his shit and who are willing to stand up to him.

Did Bernie get played? Maybe. I doubt that Trump was serious about his debate offer, but at the same time he didn't expect anyone to call him on it.

And, of course, when called on it he agrees only to give himself time to do what he does best - Come up with a statement that directs attention away from himself and puts it to others.

Hilariously, all of those Democrats attacking Sanders over being 'played' by Trump are doing EXACTLY what he wants.

Enjoy marching to Trumps tune. And be weary for the example - That we SHOULDN'T be calling Republicans on their bullshit - you're setting for future Democrats.

Trump didn't set out to play Bernie like people are implying, but he was certainly willing to scapegoat him to cover his own ass.
