Trump Taps Washington Lawyer to Help Vet Potential Running Mates
Source: Bloomberg
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has tapped lawyer A.B. Culvahouse Jr., a longtime Washington fixture, to help vet his vice presidential picks, according to people familiar with the campaign.
The role for Culvahouse, who visited Trump Tower in Manhattan earlier Wednesday for a meeting with Trump's aides, is a familiar one. He ran the vetting process for Republican presidential nominee John McCain in 2008 that ultimately selected Sarah Palin.
During five elections, Culvahouse has both helped potential running mates deal with the intrusive vetting process and served as the vetting interrogator. He has a reputation for being very deliberate in establishing the credentials of potential candidates, and their pitfalls.

He did such an 'amazing' job in helping Sen McCain choose Sarah Palin.

(12,585 posts)He's already looking for a SCOTUS replacement for Scalia. He's looking for his V.P. He's getting with Kissinger to develop a foreign policy which includes North Korea. He's putting together his cabinet. He's getting his prior detractors to fall in line and support him. He's starting to "act presidential." Megan Kelly has gone soft on him -- how could she sit there and take him calling her a "bimbo" without smacking him in the face? It's disconcerting, to say the least.
Meanwhile, on the Democratic side of the house, the apparent schism between the Clinton loyalists and the Bernie supporters grows larger with every primary or caucus. The closer Clinton gets to the magic number the more the DNC treats Sanders like sh*t. It's like they're taking his supporters for granted. They're not even throwing a crumb of bread their way.
As much as I would like Bernie to be the next president, I would hate to have Trump anywhere near the Oval Office and the nuclear button (the ultimate negotiating tool). I will vote/contribute to whoever is the nominee of the Democratic Party.
I sincerely hope that once the nominee is decided the Party can come together for the unified purpose of defeating Trump.
