Pope makes surprise visit to Rome park marking Earth Day

Source: Associated Press

Pope Francis has made a surprise visit to one of Rome ’s main parks to participate in an Earth Day event .

Francis , who wrote an encyclical decrying the exploitation of the Earth ’s environment and resources often at the expense of the poor , went to Villa Borghese , a park filled with Sunday strollers .

He sat on an outdoor stage along with an Italian priest who has courageously denounced Naples -area mobsters for systemically dumping toxic waste on local farmland in a lucrative , illicit operation often serving legitimate businesses.

The pope told the audience that money has become a god “at the center of the world .”

2. The Pope follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, not the teachings of Bernie Sanders.

Bernie would be the first to admit they are not the same.

in terms of his view of the worship of money of all the presidential candidates this election.

If Bernie were not talking about the worship of money in our society, none of the candidates would be. And it is a serious issue. One we all should be concerned about.

the 25th anniversary of an encyclical about capitalism being better than communism, wangled an invitation for the conference for Bernie. To do that he did an end-run around the President of the Academy by getting his invite from a Bishop who was on the board.

What the invitation to the Vatican demonstrated was that Bernie is not above a last minute publicity stunt.

6. And Bernie, with the cameras on him, snubbed the President of the event

...for all the world to see what a classless and spiteful man he is. All because she had told the press that Bernie invited himself: "He showed monumental discourtesy...Sanders made the first move, for obvious reasons."

She was correct. Even the Bishop from Argentina who did finally extend the invitation declined to say who initiated it when repeatedly asked by the press. If it had been his own initiative he should have had no problem saying so--clearly there will be some meetings and words about this all well behind closed doors when the dust settles.

There is an established protocol, and in this case, though it was not honored, and the press was already aware, the "invite" that wasn't caused a short coffee/bathroom break time slot to be opened to allow Bernie to give a short speech. They hoped the short spot at an awkward time, long trip, cost, and hassle would all combined together cause Bernie to reconsider and change his mind--averting an awkward situation that by this time the actual Vatican was aware of--thanks to Bernie Sanders himself, on television claiming he had been "invited by the Pope", and then "by the Vatican"--of with neither were true.

Where was Hillary? Why wasn't she trying to speak to the world about the sin of greed?

Absent as usual. Crowd-shy as usual.

She admits she is no politician. You can say that again.

Hillary and her fans are jealous that Bernie was invited to the Vatican event. Hillary and her fans do not know how you get invited to such events.

And Hillary loves wealth and all the easy living that goes with it.

That's one of the reasons I like Bernie. He is paid a good salary as a senator, but he recognizes as Jesus did the dangers of wealth.

As Jesus threw the moneychangers out of the Temple, so Bernie will throw the campaign finance moneychangers out of our democracy.

Hillary gives lip service to campaign finance reform but does not walk the walk.

Bernie has shown that you can walk the walk. Hillary did not have the courage to try.

How do you miss that the trip to Rome, with the entire extended family, some press, and the SS in tow; for a 40 hour turnaround, on a chartered jumbo jet funded by those $27 contributors; on a manipulated invite by the campaign that caused Vatican embarrassment, and that included an ambushing of the Pope and a hijacking of the press coverage--instead of allowing for the carefully planned trip and media coverage by the Pope as he went on a trip to highlight the ongoing crisis of Syrian refugees; all based on lies brazenly spoken by Bernie Sander's own lips, was nothing more than a political, publicity stunt of epic proportions?
Yowser!

Not only did Bernie step on the attention the Pope wanted to bring to the Syrian refugee crisis, he had not even read the document the seminar was to discuss.

He thought Francis had written it, not JPII. He reportedly ended up giving a riff on his campaign speech to the 30 or so PhD's who attended the conference.

And Marx and Mao are closest to Jesus when it comes to money.

Let's not go into the nauseating Bernie to Jesus parallels again, OK?
