House Speaker Ryan: Not enough support for TPP vote

Source: Reuters

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said on Thursday he does not see enough support to bring the Trans-Pacific Partnership up for a vote in the chamber, adding that the Obama administration must do more to persuade lawmakers to accept the trade deal.

"I don't think the votes are there right now because of the concerns about what's in the TPP," Ryan told reporters at his weekly news conference.

They don't like it just because of what's in it. Pfft. How immature.

And know which Democrats are traitors to their constituents and which need to be rewarded for standing up for us.

Wonder if Ron Wyden would vote for it or against it. Might get a bigger primary battle (there is a contender) if he votes for it.

Given the anti-TPP sentiment voting for Trump in Republican primaries, I wonder if perhaps Ryan doesn't want many Republicans facing primary battles too!

The one time I am happy about a statement from Paul Ryan ...

We still need to EVICT the turncoats who supported it .... Do you hear me Ron Wyden ? .... Earl Blumenour (Really ? ... yes, really), and Susanne Bonamici, my own congressional rep. These are the LIBERALS in Oregon ...

I hope to get your vote in the Democratic Primary this May, to show that we will no longer tolerate complacency from Senator Ron Wyden, and instead vote for a new voice. A voice who will put your best interest forward to reduce income-inequality, increase wages, and vote loudly against trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Please join me, and let’s put Oregon first.

Yes, he's a bit young and inexperienced, but the more pressure we can put on Wyden, even if Stine loses the primary, it will show that Oregonians don't want someone doing big money's work and want someone that will work for them instead. It might also help motivate the youth vote here in Oregon if we can help elevate his campaign.

If he could win the primary, he could be part of the symbolism of the revolution that Bernie would bring to Washington of a new set of politicians coming in to work for the people instead of the rich b*stards!

Wyden was the senator that helped Hatch author the Fast Track bill that was passed that will likely help facilitate passing the TPP if enough votes can't be found to get a majority of senators to vote against it (when we can no longer just look for 41 to filibuster it thanks to fast track).

what are going to do?

This is your NAFTA, CAFTA and your "trade deal" moment----------------you'll make history

Sit on your proverbial hands? can't wait for ever----------show us your back bone and what and who you really represent , not later, but now

----------------------why don't you hold a vote instead of waiting until after this fall election and do your job now-------------------------------hold the vote----------------------pass or fail.

Its in your chamber on your table of things to do

This is your job function-----------this isn't some game to wait it out until you get what you want----------------you got your republican lemmings and 23 DINO's to vote for this, and then there was the senate they also voted for this -----------------show the American public who you really support -----------------not them but your corporation lobbyists sitting in your office everyday.........

Show the American public what your AYN RAND concept is truly about--------------------corruptions , corporations and just screwing people and the mentality that you are own your own defend yourself

This is your big moment to tell the world and this country that this stinking new Act will end everything about the sovereignty of country, its courts, everything and that your capitalism of free trade is here-----------------this is your dogma, no more regulations, no more protections ----------------------its about the greed,

Show us how the have's can have more, and the have not's can have less--------------that's what it it's all about

Show everyone this vote, show everyone how a legislature and a how "trade deals" have driven a country into becoming economic destruction and turned into a Third Rate Country in over thirty years, poverty, crime , education, infrastructure decay, pollution's, lack of clean water, food, and air, outsourcing of jobs, how the lack of tariffs are destroying the economic base of this country, deficits, destroy Social Security, Medicare

The president has already done his job, he wants this "trade deal" , the "majority" of the American public you know 50+ 1 don't want this deal, they have felt and seen the past "deals"

Honk-----------------for a political revolution Bernie 2016

This is what this election is about-----------------this "trade deal" this countries future, its citizens

VOTE NO-------------------ANDY HARRIS R Maryland and not for your Club for Growth allies that want this deal

McConnell does not like the tobacco carve-out. Hatch is unhappy because Big Pharma is unhappy. Ryan knows he has lost the GOP reps in North Carolina and other tobacco-growing states who voted for fast track but now don't like the tobacco carve-out so they won't vote for the final TPP.

If not for fast track which prevents changes to the final agreement, the republican majority would remove the tobacco carve-out from TPP and add more protection for Big Pharma on biologics - then pass what would be an even worse TPP.
