Carly Fiorinas latest campaign stop in Iowa has upset some Des Moines-area parents, who say the GOP presidential candidate ambushed a group of kids on a preschool field trip and led them to an anti-abortion rally.
<snip>
At least one of the preschoolers parents isnt happy their child encountered that type of information during their field trip.
The kids went there to see the plants, Chris Beck, the father of a 4-year-old child who was at the botanical garden that day, told the Guardian. She ambushed my sons field trip. Beck added that he thought Fiorinas decision to direct the young children to the anti-abortion event was in very poor taste and judgment, and said his 4-year-old child cannot fully comprehend concepts related to ending a pregnancy.
In response to questions from the Guardian about Fiorinas interactions with the preschoolers at Wednesdays event, a spokesperson for her campaign replied, We were happy that these children chose to come to Carlys event with their adult supervisor.

(43,049 posts)the only good thing is that the kids were too young to understand.
(But, later on the parents might have had some questions they didn't want to answer...)

(15,882 posts)exactly what they learned from it.
The kids can't consent, they didn't get the parents permission.
I would file a police report and get a restraining order.
She has already proven that she can't be trusted around the kids, what with kidnapping them and all.
Sounds like a creepy old stalker, and one never knows where it will show up next.

(1,089 posts)of our 3-year-old and we don't want her photos put out in public without our control. We don't post photos of her on social media, for instance, because one of my wife's friends used to and an old boyfriend of hers started stalking her and her child.
If this asshole grabbed my kid and stuck her in this picture without me knowing about it ahead of time, I'd go absolutely insane. The chaperons would have some very difficult questions to answer. The campaign would as well. I'd go on a public rampage and not rest until accountability was exacted. I don't think there's any legal action that could be taken, but I'd certainly look into that.
What a horrible, disgusting and utterly shameless human being this woman is.

(1,121 posts)seem to have that "Oh Shit" look on their faces before a group that maintains it's "committed to life"? Could it be that they just realized that they're fucked now that they're out of the womb? Yes, Carly, we do need to "take back our country" from imbeciles like you.

(2,382 posts)... let's hope this stunt ends her candidacy once and for all. The parents of those kids should be furious and looking to gut that bitch from groin to gizzard. Legally speaking, of course. Heh, heh, heh, heh!

I've got a young son myself and to see you write that makes me sick. I'm guessing you must not be a Sanders supporter...

(10,136 posts)I lead tours for school groups in a large public garden. We try to have one volunteer docent and one parent for every six kids, but sometimes it doesn't work out and I find myself with up to a dozen and no other adult. It is stressed over and over that we are responsible for getting the kids back to their teacher at the agreed upon time; we all wear nametags that identify us as being associated with the garden; we introduce ourselves to the teacher and parents when the class arrives. We do at least one tour a day, often more, and we're pretty organized about processing the groups. I still worry about kids getting out of my sight, and try to keep them away from adults who are visiting the garden. They're my responsibility until I get them back to their teachers.
It sounds like this may have been an ad-hoc "let's take the kids to the garden" event organized by the pre-school (we generally do programs for K-5), so I can see how some parents may have been led astray by a person acting authoritatively and telling them where to go. I didn't think it was possible for my opinion of Carly to get any lower, but it did.

(12,151 posts)I can't even put into words how disturbing just the concept of taking small children on field trip to see a botanical garden to use as props in some sickening anti-abortion micro-rally.
Fiorina is a monster. The fact she's even permitted on the national stage in any capacity is shocking.

...I always ask my kids about any opinions teachers or escorts give them about current events.
That's how I found out one had a Teabagger teacher and another had a assisting parent that was putting down certain local groups

(34,136 posts)That place should undergo some serious scrutiny! Plus whoever led the trip - teachers who escorted the trip - should be questioned as to why they let the children be used in such an unscrupulous way.
If I were a parent I would be screaming about this - the school and the trip leaders should be very worried about their legal futures.

(877 posts)The parents signed off for a field trip to see the botanical gardens, not this. It's the school's responsiblity to have stepped in. Oh and the children "chose" to go to the event? HUH? The children CHOOSE Jello, not her!
The school may be in deep doo-doo.

(23,975 posts)Ms.Fiorina has no biological children. After reading about this stunt, and considering her obsession with this topic, I found myself wondering if Ms. Fiorina might possibly have had an abortion or two in her past that she regrets, and that this is what drives her.
Also, I know step-parents vary in this particular matter. My husband was married once before, and has a son and a daughter, whom I first met when they were 5 and 8. They are now 45 and 42, and each one has a son. Hubby and I have 2 sons together, who are 25 and 23. I have never called my husband kids "our" kids, nor did they call me "mom". Their mom is alive, and they lived with her, and visited us We have a good relationship, and so do the 4 half-sibs, despite the differences in their ages. My husband's grandsons don't call me any form of "grandma," nor do I want them to. I find it a tad disingenuous for Ms. Fiorina to talk about the death of "our daughter." Maybe, if she weren't such a cold-heated witch, I would find her more believable.
As I said, I know step-parents vary in this, and my comments are not intended to be critical of step-parents who like being called mom or dad. It wan't right for me.
