Clinton blasts Sanders on gun control record, ties him to NRA

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by discntnt_irny_srcsm (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Washington Times

Hillary Clinton came out swinging Sunday night on the issue of gun control and tried to tie her presidential primary rival Sen. Bernard Sanders to the gun industry.

At the party’s last primary forum before the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses, Mrs. Clinton said Mr. Sanders simply doesn’t have credibility on guns.

“He has voted with the NRA, with the gun lobby, numerous times,” she said. “He voted for immunity for gun makers and sellers … There is no industry in America that was given the total pass the gunmakers and gun dealers were, and that needs to be reversed.”

SO tire of people immediately writing off a story based on where it was published.
And I'm not writing that as a Sanders supporter
I remember all the major news orgs shunning the John Edwards story simply because it was being brought up by the Enquirer, not because it wasnt true

The first time Sanders ran for Congress, the NRA got furious with his Republican opponent. So, it did a mailing endorsing Sanders. After that, it graded Sanders F every year, until last year, when it graded him D- (as compared with, say, Governor Dean's A grade from the NRA)

That my friends is the entire extent of Sanders "ties" to the NRA.

It's hilarious: For years on this board, DU's right has been falsely accusing DU's left of being purists. Balancing Bernie's one or two votes on guns that I don't like against many things about Hillary I don't like, including that she voted for every war and surge for which she was eligible to vote, I pick Bernie. But, now, I'm not pure enough for DU's right.

Hard to see their sincerity sometimes.

What I am most shocked about are the Clinton supporters who, know this B.S. isn't true but still spread it around and act like it is. You pride yourself on being better than the GOP, but yet still support and play dirty politics. I thought we were better than that.

And his vote against it was the right one. Its stupid to think that any court would allow you to sue Smith & Wesson because they legally sold a gun to someone who ended up breaking a law with it. Just like suing Jack Daniels because a distributor sold a bottle to someone who got drunk and killed someone in an accident.
Stupid & would never hold up in court.
Now if they sold a defective weapon, thats different. Remington has been fighting that one for awhile now

If someone intentionally runs over a person with a car, you don't sue Ford, so why should you sue a gun manufacturer after someone uses their product in a crime?
