Get him the hell out of here!: Trump sics supporters on black protester who gets beaten and kicked

Yet another rally for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has descended into racist violence.
CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond posted video to Twitter of a black protester being shoved down, punched, kicked and tackled during a political rally for Trump in Birmingham, Alabama a city with a long history of racial violence.
In the video, Trump can be heard continuing to speak in the background, then can be heard saying, Get him the hell out of here, as the crowd jeers.
According to Diamond, the protester seemed to be saying, Black lives matter, to which at least one Trump supporter responded, All lives matter. He was tackled to the ground, punched and kicked by white Trump supporters.
This is not the first time Trump supporters have been caught carrying out racially-charged violence at rallies for the real estate mogul.

(8,200 posts)Yes things have improved. But this improvement is also very superficial in many cases. Underneath the veneer there is a core of racial hatred. This last year I was in Alabama and I can assure you that many are just as racial as their grandpapa. This is especially true in regard to white working class folks. The better educated tend to ignore the racial hatred rather than confronting it because they realize that it could only result in their estrangement from proper society. They wouldn't be overtly challenged but would respectfully be given the silent treatment and would soon find themselves excluded and marginalized. The vast majority know the best option is to remain silent which is accepted as tacit agreement.
At times a wonder if Lincoln chose the right path since it seems that in spite of the passage of time it has only served to embitter and foster resentment. I wonder if the slave holders, who were in the minority, would have come to the realization of the immoral and un-Christian evilness of slavery that it would have been abolished voluntarily. I know that such an opinion is subject to question. But the aftermath of the almost universal racism that ensued may have been mitigated. It seems to have provided many with the excuse to embrace racism.

(10,500 posts)Most Confederates didn't even own slaves, but they supported the institution. It was a truly evil society. The Confederacy was the proto-Nazi state.
I have little doubt that slavery would have lasted for many more generations, until it was ended by force. And the force that ended it probably would have been World War II--when the C.S.A. was allied with Nazi Germany.

(25,699 posts)I decided to have a look at Freerepublic's response to this. They're eating it with a fucking spoon. There is a guy saying he wishes he were younger so he could join Trump's security and help clobber.
Remember whose primary Trump is running in.

(2,003 posts)This is why Trump will be the Republican nominee. And this is why Trump has a very real chance at winning.
Never underestimate the number of pissed-off white people out there. Donald Trump is giving them the green light to unleash generations worth of pent-up rage at what they perceive is a country that has changed too quickly around them.
This next year is going to get ugly.

(2,003 posts)Every time he says something that would've destroyed another candidate, his poll numbers rise. And now were heading into the holiday season with him in the lead and the wheels coming off the Carson campaign. Nobody else comes close.
After the holiday season we'll have Iowa on the 1st of February and New Hampshire a week later. If Trump wins both those races (and he's blowing away the competition in NH) he'll have winner's momentum. The money will dry up for everyone else and that'll be that.

(6,604 posts)the Republican Machine will do one of two things:
1) Let him ride as long as possible, if only to get the best measure of the level of crazy among their voters, then pull the plug. I won't hazard a guess about how they'd do that (pull the plug), but I'm sure it's within their means
OR (and I've seen this floated as a possibility)
2) Resign itself to losing in the general, and making do with what they hope will be a Clinton victory.
Xenophobic assholes make up fully a quarter to a third of this country's electorate at this point. How else to explain the recent, if horrifying, congressional reaction to the Syrian refugee crisis, not to mention the apologia of democrats willing to let their reps off the hook with the lame excuse about swing states?
Having said this, I'm braced for the inevitable alert. If that comes to pass, so be it.

(12,834 posts)That's always been a big thing in the marketplace of appearances during general election campaigns. Supporters and sycophants are always quick to point out how "presidential" their candidate is at photo ops, speeches, and debates.
Has anyone ever accused Trump of being presidential?
Is "being presidential" even a concern for Republican voters this time around?

(2,978 posts)I mean, I know there's this Godwin's Law or something wherein we're "exaggerating" when we talk about brownshirts and demagogues who incite an angry disaffected populace to acts of violence against demonized minorities. . . .
I guess when they stop dressing up in Tea Party gear and start wearing identical party uniforms that we get to speak out?
I've been binge-watching World At War (1973), a 24 part series on WW2, after just having watched a 7-part series of World War 1 and the 6-part French series on WW2 called Apocalypse. The similarities are greater than I would have thought before learning more about the early details of the Nazi Party.

(60,078 posts)Seriously, all that needs to happen next is for Donald to climb up on the table at the beer garden.
There he can gather his supporters and tell them about the master race.
This is truly frightening. It's not funny. It's not a joke.
And people better pay attention.

People think I'm crazy when I say, and I really hope I am wrong, he is going to be the next prez.
He will represent the culmination of years of brainwashing the American public into thinking that we need someone who is "apart" from the system. The public mistakenly believe; therefore he will work for us.
