A small group of Target Corp. pharmacy workers in New York City are one step closer to becoming the retailers first ever union.
The National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday rejected Targets appeal to invalidate the groups September vote to unionize. In a letter denying the appeal, the NLRB said Target hadnt raised any substantial issues warranting review.
Target had argued that the pharmacy workers vote wasnt valid because the retailer previously agreed to sell its pharmacy business to CVS Health Corp. for $1.9 billion, effectively ending the companys relationship with all pharmacy employees.
We continue to evaluate next steps and maintain our position that the petition should not have been processed, said Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman. Target still has room to challenge the decision in federal court, said James Paulsen, the Brooklyn-based regional director of the NLRB.
