Controversial Chef Paula Deen Joins 'Dancing With The Stars'

Multiple sources say that Deen is joining the celebrity cast for the reality TV competitions's 21st season, which premieres Sept. 14 on ABC. Deen will compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy against R&B legend Chaka Khan, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and Australian conservationist Bindi Irwin.
The 68-year-old former Food Network diva had previously been asked to join the show in 2010, but turned down the offer, the New York Daily News reported. That was before the Food Network dumped "Paula's Home Cooking" and "Paula's Best Dishes," and Deen lost multiple endorsement deals following revelations in a 2013 deposition that she used the N-word.
The revelations emerged in a $1.2 million lawsuit filed by a former manager at the Savannah, Georgia, restaurant owned by Deen and her brother, Bubba. She's since been running her own online cooking network, though she embarrassed herself again in July after posting a photo of her son Bobby Deen sporting brownface.
Disgraced celebrity chef Paula Deen may hope that turning in some fancy footwork on "Dancing With the Stars" will rehabilitate her image -- and keep her from the unique foot-in-mouth syndrome that got her into so much trouble in the first place.
