Deputy Shoots, Kills Armed White House Fence Jumper in Chester County Court Lobby

Source: NBC10.com

A sheriff deputy shot and killed an armed man who had previously scaled the wall of the White House at a suburban Philadelphia courthouse Tuesday in an incident that left a sheriff's deputy injured.

Gunshots rang out inside the Chester County Justice Center at 201 W Market St. in West Chester, Pennsylvania shortly before noon Tuesday.

Curtis Smith of Coatesville entered the courthouse with a knife and charged at a sheriff's deputy, said District Attorney Tom Hogan. Another deputy then opened fire, striking and killing Smith, who was 34.

A uniformed person with a bandaged hand could be seen on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. That person appeared to be the deputy who was attacked.

The man is said to have:

"previously scaled the wall of the White House at a suburban Philadelphia courthouse"

I appear to have been horribly misinformed as to the size and/or the location of the White House.

Wouldn't have been in the suburbs out in Chester County, though.

Though one could be excused for expecting the writer to have already done as much.

I get so tired of people leaving off the 2nd comma, or just inserting a comma or two somewhere inappropriate, apparently not understanding the concept of a parenthetical statement.

I have contacted various news agencies, offering my services as a proofreader after reading poorly written articles.

I've yet to hear back from any of them.

I was at Courthouse four days ago. I saw more policemen than judges and lawyer combined. Not a good place to pull a knife.

he wasn't thinking clearly, or was mentally disturbed, though that might be likely.

Tough opponent. Hard to be ready for all the time.
