Lara Logan of '60 Minutes' hospitalized again
Source: CNN
"60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan has been hospitalized for the second time in a month, a spokesperson for the CBS News program confirmed Tuesday.
"We were sorry to hear that Lara was readmitted to the hospital yesterday and we wish her a speedy recovery," the spokesperson told CNNMoney.
Logan was hospitalized on Monday, weeks after the correspondent was taken to a Washington, D.C. hospital for internal bleeding.
It was unclear whether Logan's current hospitalization is the result of any lingering complications from a brutal sexual assault she endured in 2011 at the hands of a gang of men during the uprising in Egypt. After her rescue, Logan was flown back to the U.S. where she was hospitalized.

(47,479 posts)Her brutal attack was one the first indication that the so-called "Arab Spring" was a wishful thinking by the West.

(1,150 posts)A bunch of Egyptian thugs in a thick crowd sexually assault an American female reporter and this says something substantial about politics in the entire region?
It does suggest that there may be a rape culture problem among some males from the demographic group her attackers were in. I, for one, am glad we have hardly any rapes here, especially at our esteemed colleges and universities... That would, according to your logic, tell us that our notions of the virtues of republican democracy and Constitutionally guaranteed liberties are just 'wishful thinking.'

(37,748 posts)How precisely does an assault on a reporter indicate failure? Does that apply to all revolutions and counter-revolutions, or merely this one? If that latter, what then is the precise and relevant distinction?

(47,479 posts)It was not just the rapists, she could not get help from any other men. There were a few brave women that finally saved her.

(9,958 posts)Seems kinda gratuitous to bring up a rape that happened four years ago.
It does seem gratuitous. No way I will ever read or watch one of her reports again after that Benghazi farce. Not credible--both her and 60 Minutes.

(29,503 posts)I don't think anyone here would wish poor health on her, but if she misrepresented the facts before, how do we know that we have the facts NOW (about this claim that somehow her sexual assault precipitated her diverticulitis)?
I refuse to watch any of her segments, and 60 Minutes more generally. I'll watch Anderson Cooper, or even Steve Kroft and Leslie Stahl (and Morley Safer), but they aren't every week. The standards of that program have hit a low point, IMO.

(49,212 posts)A woman is suffering from internal bleeding (!!!) and people want to blame her/say she somehow deserves her illness because they don't like her reporting or imply that she faked being gang raped?
That's fucked up. That's really, really fucked up.
We do politics because of our concern for the suffering of real people. When you put your politics ahead of your concern for real, feeling human beings you're doing that shit wrong.

(231 posts)God knows how she was damaged internally in that gang rape. She is lucky to be alive.
I am not a doctor, but I can easily believe that her GI system was damaged permanently.
