4. How might releasing the tax returns end the story? RMoney has been caught

in a lie.

Either the docs submitted to the SEC were a lie (federal felony)

or

Romney lied to the American people when he said he left Bain in 1999

That's my rudimentary understanding and I'm not sure how releasing the tax returns will resolve this. Both positions cannot be true simultaneously.

8. Because they're continuing to say that he was CEO in name only (as if the SEC filings don't matter)

...the tax returns would make it a true legal issue cause he got tax benefits from operational control of Bain which would THEN put this issue at a lot more than a "quirk"...rMoney would have gotten tax benefits from lying...

that's serious

from Romney's Bain tenure 1999-2002.

There's still the matter of the fraudulent SEC filings that had Romney in operational control.

Mind you, I think he needs to release his tax returns anyway. But i don't think releasing them makes this particular problem go away.

So I don't see why rMoney can't release his tax returns.

And we all know why; those tax returns will confirm he continued in a leadership position at Bain well after 1999.

Today's msm probably won't go as far as questioning if he committed a felony on air (except msnbc/current) - but they all know this story is out there.

Releasing his tax returns is going to become the only logical thing for him to do, and at this point - if he doesn't - he is admitting guilt.

massive IRS audit. He could be in free fall, with no parachute. This guy could get elected, charged with tax evasion and fraud, convicted and imprisoned before being sworn in. I hope they make a reasonable choice for VP -- not some bimbo with hooters, like McGrampy choose.

long form wealth certificate, Rmoney....!!
He obviously is hiding something and the Obama campaign knows what it is. They are simply giving Rmoney an opportunity to come clean before they say what it is..
Just speculation, of course, but the Obama people are not stupid and I don't think they would be pressing this unless they knew something solid...

or pundit or Obama campaign. Dems typically let complex issues and positions get boiled down to smaller debatable points. This happens over and over.

While this Bain issue and the tax return issue get discussed in the short term, remember that the LAST thing we all need in this era of lobbying and citizens united and historic income inequality is an uber-wealthy corporate type who is out of touch, a capitalist raider, a flip-flopper extraordinaire, a proven liar, a real elite who believes in trickle down on steroids and who believes in doing away with the new deal. Who will take health care away from 40 million people. Bain lying is part of an overall case of unworthiness...not the most important part, possibly not the most durable part.

This is a highly-flawed candidate...we can't let the battle be boiled down to one issue that can be diluted, confused, made gray...so that the candidate can be rehabilitated.

How does he justify producing tax returns for McCain's private vetting for a VP but deny the American people the same opportunity?
