"I don't care what's in the bill. I just want a ceremony."

"I don't care what's in the bill. I just want a ceremony."

- Donald Trump on the American Health Care Act colloquially known as Chump Care.

Let's wrap our melons around that. He was willing to throw twenty four million people off of health care, some of whom would get sick and die, for the glory of a signing ceremony.

I will pretend I am under oath. Consider it an affidavit:

I was watching Hardball on March 29, 2017 and during the "Tell me something I don't know" segment a guest told Chris Matthews that regarding the passage of the American Health Care Act Donald Trump said " I don't care what's in the bill I just want a ceremony." I initially thought it was Peter Alexander but after googling his image I don't think so. I am sure of the quote. I am not sure of the guest.

What Trump said during healthcare debacle
joaniepoanie14 hours ago
According to Jeremy Peters of the NYT Trump told people:

"I don't care what's in the bill, I just want a ceremony."

Just in case anyone still harbored any hope he gives a dam about the American people. Always was and always will be about him.

At the end of the day if anybody is responsible for establishing the veracity of the quote it's Mr. Peters and not me. By that I mean there is a transcript and video of Peters saying it. It is up to him to establish that Trump said it. I am sure it's sourced.

Here is more evidence that gives context to the "disputed" quote:

Donald Trump had heard enough about policy and process. It was Thursday afternoon and members of the House Freedom Caucus were peppering the president with wonkish concerns about the American Health Care Act—the language that would leave Obamacare’s “essential health benefits” in place, the community rating provision that limited what insurers could charge certain patients, and whether the next two steps of Speaker Paul Ryan’s master plan were even feasible—when Trump decided to cut them off.

"Forget about the little shit," Trump said, according to multiple sources in the room. "Let's focus on the big picture here."

He can say he fulfilled a promise. It's all optics.

All of his life that has been the only thing that matters--how it looks to people. That's how he has run his businesses.

Too bad if the delivery isn't anything like the promise, right?

PETERS: So during the whole health care debacle which we know how that
ended, President Trump was so insistent that he get something done, he
actually told people, “I don`t care what`s in this bill. I just want a
ceremony.”
He`s that desperate to get an achievement.
