I wish I was down there, I would go and support this. I already made complaints on Cumulus medias facebook page, this outfit is disgusting for what they did to these great liberal talk show hosts!

But all off it was almost exclusively local. The loss of community is what slays me, it's like Cumulus murdered a member of my family.

Bob Brinker (syndicated) and asshole Wattenburg were the two conservative voices let go. Burns, a registered Democrat, was a dyed in the wool Libertarian (his positions on some social issues were truly draconian).

will not be missed, but Burns was more to my liking after he switched parties. I didn't agree with him on every issue but he was more of a "common sense" host which many here would call "draconian." Oh well, to each his own. Now I listen to KQED FM...and no commercials

KXJZ, Capital Public Radio, Sacramento, by default, is my go to station in the morning, and through most of the day. But my enthusiasm ends there, their night programming drifts into jazz and the damn dude loves to play cheesy electronic organ jazz. AUGH!!!

Burns was mostly spot on with international politics and world events, but my opinion of him on social issues stands. In his perfect world, Gene would choose to reside in the Gilded age.

Oh, Gene Burns landed a gig! Starting Jan 03, he will resume both his programs at 910am. Dining Around will air on Saturday mornings, and his talk program will be from 4-7pm, M-F.

KGO was the only decent radio station we could get out here in bumfuck nowhere. And changing it an all news format makes no sense whatsoever. SF already has a very successful all news station, there is no need for another one.

And they fired almost everybody except the spineless, centrist, don't step on anybody's toes Ron Owens, the most piss poor talk host in their entire lineup. Owens must have pictures of the Cumulus Media boss in compromising positions with barnyard animals.

Oddly enough they retained Pat Thurston, probably the most radical host they have. She's not part of their weekday lineup but she does have a 3 hour show on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I guess we should be glad they didn't turn it into another right wing bullshit station.

I'd listen to Bernie and Ray at night on a little transistor AM radio. I could only get KGO at night, and the signal would fade in and out.

They kept me from going insane back in 2001-2004, I thought the world had gone conservative bonkers, and their liberal voices really helped me know I wasn't the only one left.

KGO has a 50,000 watt "blowtorch" transmitter and their signal goes from British Colombia to Arizona and New Mexico after dark because it is refracted by the ionosphere.

In the past few years Ray, being on M-F from 1:00 am-5:00 am, would receive calls from listeners in many other states, China, and Europe because they had found KGO streaming on the internet.

Many regular KGO listeners mentioned being appalled, driving or visiting in other areas, to find a total absence of talk radio except for the right wing stuff.
