(28,344 posts)I'm sure no matter what it is it will be very interesting, and relevant, and it will be yet another important bit of the puzzle, and yes I'll be watching.
But it seems like too much to hope for.
Chris Hayes did just say that it does have to do with Donald Trump's taxes . . . .
Ugh. I need a glass of wine.

if it is his returns from 1981.... or Ivanka's returns.... or returns from one of his businesses.
She will get burned down on the internet. She'll be toast.
But if she has his actual returns from sometime in the past few years.... this will be the biggest story for the next two weeks.

If there's not something truly incriminating in there, or something that shows a clear conflict of interest that challenges his ability to serve as President, who cares?
Guess we'll all find out in about 30 minutes.

Rather was right, but he was played with the false document by rove and company, and not only did they discredit Dan, but the AWOL story disappeared

(40,416 posts)It is posted after her 9PM ET program ends, and it is complete, the entire program.
Point your podcast aggregator towards "Rachel Maddow" (search). There will be two versions, video and audio.
I get the audio version every night that MS/NBC posts it, usually by about 11PM ET. It is only a 10MB download, nice for download limited folks, like me here in the Manistee National Forest. (No cable; no broadband INet; only cellular.) The video version is larger, of course. Thankfully Rachel is so descriptive that I do not miss the video. YMMV.
Just thought I'd post this tip for those without access to MS/NBC.
Rachel's been on fire recently!

(18,837 posts)...I "seriously" hope Rachel is not going to reveal the contents of Al Capone's vault. I hope she's GOT something here.
Maddow has received a ratings bump in recent weeks through her dogged reporting of the Trump Organization and Trump administrations multiple ties to Russia. Trump broke with precedent during the 2016 election, becoming the the first president in 40 years to refuse to make his tax returns public.
In January, Trump rebuffed calls from the public to release his returnsincluding a record-breaking number of signers on a WhiteHouse.gov petition.
You know the only ones who care about my tax returns are reporters, Trump said.
Now, one reporter looks poised to put that to the test.

(11,894 posts)Rachel is at the top of the ratings heap right now and I hope she does not get anything caught in the wringer like Rather did. Dear girl has a very big target on her.

(6,324 posts)It's her pattern- she promotes some huge breaking thing to boost viewership then discounts.
I swore her off after the election when every week leading up she would say she had coming up the story that would destroy Trump and it was never anything new or if it was new it wasn't worth the hype.
I let her lure me back in again and even expecting it knowing her patterns was let down.
She knew exactly what she was doing by tweeting she had "returns" as in multiple returns when in fact she had 2 pages out of hundreds for a single year. Not "returns", not even a "return" but 2 pages from one.
But she got what she wanted- massive exposure and hype leading up to the show to boost ratings.
I guess that's all that really matters....
Progressives deserve a leading media voice who conducts themselves better than that in my opinion. But that's me, many here disagree so as long as she gets the ratings I imagine she will have more of these hyped up major stories that end up 99% hype and 1% substance.

(13,133 posts)You might have known that you could be in for a letdown or even a misdirect. She has done similar but less dramatic things like this before as I recall. Or as they say, placing ALL your eggs in a single basket is never a good idea. Trust is something that is earned and cannot be just given.
Being skeptical of promises is something I only learned around fourth grade because mostly older people were always honest to me back in the day. My teacher made some elaborate skit up to have all of us in her class to believe we were going on a field trip in a big boat to Japan. A few, like me, were allowed to be left in the dark about the hoax for an extra day or two. (a lot of kids told their parents and they called the school) Kind of also how one uses the lie of omission to keep people in the dark. The deal was that we were not allowed tell anyone else because she was still going through it with the school adminstrators to get the okay. I got laughed at the end but living in a fantasy while it seems real makes reality hard to swallow when that dream gets crushed.
