If Rural Voters Were Angry Before, Wait Until The GOP Repeals ObamacareTheyll pay more and their hospitals will suffer under the GOP replacement for Obamacare, experts say. Democrats are ready to pounce.

WASHINGTON ― If President Donald Trump and Republicans make good on their promise to angry rural voters to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, those voters may wind up a lot angrier.
And it wont be good for their health or for the electoral prospects of the GOP.
Democrats, at least, certainly think so, and are looking at both fresh polling data and history for evidence that the GOPs repeal and replace effort will also repeal Republican control of Congress.
For Jill Hanauer, who runs the progressive election research and strategy outfit Project New America, the landscape is starting to remind her of Colorado in 2004, when Democrats did especially well, running in part on a health care message.
The way we really won in Republican-leaning districts of the state legislature was talking about the specifics of health care ― particularly breast cancer and prostate cancer and other cancer screenings and other prevention, Hanauer recently told The Huffington Post. Thirteen years later, those same issues are, I believe, going to tear this party potentially apart if they dont smell the coffee.

(7,434 posts)Isnt it great? Trumpy will kick his base in the genitals, over and over. Hes doing that right now! And his base? (Oh, our President is being strong and arrogant, just like us.) For them its all rhetoric. It means nothing. It means nothing because it isnt law. His base doesnt draw the CONNECTION between rhetoric and the law, at their own, and our, peril. So they are stunningly supportive of what will end up being their own increased suffering and early death. Isnt that simply amazing?

And lets see how they like their small rural hospitals shutting down because Trumpcare makes them non-viable and they have to drive 100 or more miles to the nearest one.

(15,245 posts)Do not underestimate what public schools bring into rural communities. Everything in Agriculture (with the exception of tobacco) is potentially on the shopping block. Of course the way back machine will revive the coal industry.

(595 posts)It won't be Trump's fault for them but the government who is at fault. The disconnect is huge.

The republican kabuki theater is almost over and these working class fools who voted Trump/republican are going to get a red-hot poker shoved up their ass for their stupidity.

(1,606 posts)they will take that direction. I realize some might have a scattering of braincells but there are just so many of them willing to believe in what they want, contrary to reality.

(1,828 posts)Under Pres. Obama? Did he take away their guns? Their farm subsidies? Their health care? No! they were just angry because Obama is black. There is no other reason. If someone knows the reason, please enlighten me.

(28,270 posts)The scary black man in the white house was the only reason for the deplorable Trump voters, period.
IMO
Although others on this board will argue that has nothing to do with it.
