CNN pundits during SCOTUS HRR hearing: There's no substitute for victory.

When oral arguments ended for the HCR hearing at the Supreme Court and things looked bleak for Obama, a CNN pundit said, "There's no substitute for victory." What he meant was there is no way the president could spin such a huge loss into a positive if the ACA was struck down. Now that Obama won, they are all looking for ways to say that it is a net plus for Romney. Why don't they just come out, be honest and say they want a new president?

If one reviews the GOP Primary, it's pretty plain to see that it's not about the individual, it's about the horse race.

They need to keep driving that narrative.

When is a win not a win? When it's Democratic. When a majority of Americans cast votes for the Dems, the results are invariably interpreted by the media as a public desire for moderation and bipartisanship rather than some "radical left-wing agenda." Democrats are told to abandon their campaign promises and ignore their liberal base. The pain and divisiveness of the (Republican-ruled) past must be healed by big-hearted (and soft-headed) Democrats. Democrats don't get mandates.
