What have we become?

A nation of cowards is easy to manipulate.
A wall and rounding people up is for cowards.

Poll: Americans overwhelmingly oppose sanctuary cities

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal authorities.

The poll shows that President Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.

A survey from Harvard–Harris Poll provided exclusively to The Hill found that 80 percent of voters say local authorities should have to comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come into contact with.

1. A nation has a certain self-image that is promoted by many of its citizens.

Sometimes that self-image does not really reflect reality.

The home of the brave shows a strong tendency to fear outsiders?

Fascists know that fear works. A fearful population is easier to manipulate.

I know some Trump supporters, and the following are the main things they'll worry about.
A fear of losing jobs.
A fear of losing our way of life and cultural identity.
A fear of Islam in general.
A fear of losing our standard of living/big cars/cheap gas/etc in the name of fighting things like climate change.
A fear of losing their guns to 'gun grabber politicians'.

These people are primarily driven by xenophobia, fear of change, fear of personal sacrifice, and a general fear of seeing 'traditional American values' slip away.

Forget going back in time to stop Hitler, I vote we go back in time to stop Ayn Rand. She may do more damage to the planet in the long run.

8. Our elected officials have created this mess and put the American people in a very bad spot.

If you poll something as "local authorities should have to comply with the law" you will almost always get an extremely high support rate. It's really wrong to put this on the American people after the actions of our elected officials over the last half century.
