(4,395 posts)No excuse for disrupting a peaceful protest, putting the genuine protestors in harm's way and discrediting the message.

(4,395 posts)Alert if you think I'm a troll.
Who I am is irrelevant to the discussion of whether or not rioters ever deserve an apology.
I am someone who protests peacefully and is sick of having my wellbeing at protests threatened by dipshits in black masks playing anarchist, not to mention the one time in a hundred that the protest actual does get any press it then only becomes about the dipshits smashing windows and not the tens of thousands of people who came out because they actually believe in something and want to improve things.

(11,736 posts)Does anyone owe the rioters at Berkeley an apology? I would say, No, not at all. Do they owe the peaceful protesters who were present before the disruptive rioters came about, an apology? I would still say, No.
Are the peaceful protesters who did not want a disgusting POS like Yiannopolis to speak at their school vidicated? There I would say, Yes, yes they were. They knew, like most of us know, that Yiannopolis says nothing that contributes anything to any discussion about anything. They most likely did not know about the pedophilia statements, but still, they were vindicated.
There are some riots that are understandable, though not condoned. The Watts Riots, the similar riots in DC, Philadelphia, etc... during the late 1960's and the riots in 1992, because of the conditions that people were living under.
Protests against vile and hateful people are acceptable and should continue. Riots that damage property in communities, over someone speaking, that is not acceptable.
