Due to the availability of ACA or Obamacare, my wife is having hip replacement surgery tomorrow morning. Due to other pre-existing conditions, she would have been unable to buy health insurance until Obamacare came along, had her insurance company dropped her. She's self-employed, as am I.
So, thanks, Obama! Truly.

(35 posts)Great to hear your wife can have the procedure done.
Hope all goes well and I wish for a speedy recovery.
Why don't we hear more good news like this from folks that could not get health care before O care?...
Thanks to a real president Obama...

(42,282 posts)We couldn't afford insurance until the ACA, so Hubby wouldn't have gone to the doctor when that rash appeared before Christmas....and untreated shingles can last for months. Instead, he had a couple of bad weeks, thanks to medication.
Thanks, Obama.

Hope your wife is on the mend soon, MM!

(146,288 posts)She's also been dealing with a funky hip for a long time, now, and has mastered ways to compensate for it, so she'll figure out how to recover as quickly as possible, I'm sure. Besides they're doing the surgery with an anterior incision which makes it even easier to recover. Her surgeon virtually guaranteed she'd only spend one night in the hospital and come home the next afternoon. She's the first surgery of the day tomorrow.
We're not all that concerned about the recovery time. Knowing my wife, she'll be back at her desk the day after she comes home. I've already been through the house to clear all obstacles away for the walker. We're ready to go with this. She's a bit nervous about the surgery, but not terribly so. Today, she's finishing up a couple of projects on deadline.

I have had both knees replaced and can only give the same advice she has received from her doctor: Lots of rest and do that physical therapy. I joined the "Y" and did the exercises in the pool =3x a week. My neighbor recently had hip replacemet and did the same, she is doing marvelously,
Best to your wife and I am sure she will thank you for TLC.

All good wishes to your wife -- swift and gentle healing.

(I have to quit listening to FOX, change channels faster.)
Good luck to you and yours.

(6,926 posts)I had my knee replaced two weeks ago tomorrow. I wanted to get it scheduled as early in the year as possible before Paul Ryan got the chance to destroy Medicare.

Thanks Pres Obama. My real President
So sorry about what the Repubs did and are still doing to you and us. What a contrast we have now with DT and your class, dignity, and graciousness.
