Bill Press Show: Shuster calls for MSNBC to own up to its Wawa mistake

Video clip from Current.com "David Shuster calls on MSNBC to own up to its mistake"

(Originally the clip was on Youtube for 5 days or so and got nearly 4,000 views, unusual for a video on Youtube.com/current)

Description:

David Shuster, guest hosting for Bill Press, points out the problems with the shortened clip that Andrea Mitchell played of Mitt Romney speaking about the Wawa touchscreen. Shuster says by Mitchell and MSNBC “digging in their heels, they have made this, instead of a one-day story, a three-day story.” Shuster points out that this is “extremely bad for Democrats.” He says this is “bad for accuracy” and for anyone who cares about the state of the media.

I remember channel-surfing and landing on a Fox News Hannity show segment where Hannity and his panel were criticizing MSNBC for omitting what Romney said after the "amazing" statement: "People in the private sector have learned how to compete. It's time to bring some competition to the federal government." (source: Politico.com) That's how I first learned of the story, then I discovered on Current's Youtube channel the David Shuster commentary.

That was it? Romney's "amazing" statement was to criticize the public sector? I personally can't put two and two together re "the Wawa touchscreen is amazing" and "because of that the government needs more competition", but I think the right wingers who were howling over the MSNBC edit were just disappointed that MSNBC ignored a right wing talking point.

Shuster digs his heels in on this one about Romney? Yeah, I can use that expression too. Figure that one out. I normally like Shuster, but, you know, fuck that.

When he said the "People in the private sector have learned how to compete."
That threw me more than the wawas thing too.
I was thinking the same way like "wtf does that have to do with the feds"
Making a deli order placed accurately and "faster" through a touch screen is about "convenience" and maybe trying to do without a deli employee that takes orders than "competition"
What a freakin idiot this guy is.
I wish he had gone into sport.

MSNBC didn't take RMoney out of context. Shuster is a right wing corporatist tool and should be fired

As if Mr. Wawa owned it. The store is called Wawa, not Wawa's.

The southern burger joint is Krystal, not Krystal's.

It Aldi, not Aldi's.

It's the Miami Heat, not Miami Heat's.
