Sen. Kyl: Impeachment is always a possibility for ObamaBy Stephen C. Webster -RawStory

Fresh off his states stinging immigration defeat before the U.S. Supreme Court, Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) suggested during a Tuesday morning radio interview that Americans should vote President Barack Obama out of office but if they do not, impeachment is always a possibility.
Kyl was appearing on the radio with conservative talk host Bill Bennett, discussing the presidents decision to prioritize deportations of criminal immigrants over students who were brought to the country from abroad as minors.
How do you make the feds cooperate? Bennett asked.
Well, thats the executives job and there are only a couple of ways to do it If the president insists on continuing to ignore parts of the law that he doesnt like, and simply not enforce that law, the primary remedy for that is political.
And you have it two ways: One is oversight through the Congress to demonstrate what theyre doing wrong and there are some potential criminal charges there for dereliction of duty, Kyl continued. Although, I havent looked that up yet. And the other part of it is people need to react through the ballot box to turn out of office those people who are not doing their duty.
And then, he concluded: Now if its bad enough and if shenanigans involved in it, then of course impeachment is always a possibility. But I dont think at this point anybody is talking about that.

(1,055 posts)If a Democrat wins a second term, impeachment will be the next step for the GOP.
It's just what they do.

(23,720 posts)and doing what Reagan did in regards to granting amnesty to immigrants has not only set precedence for acceptance, but in no way amounts to high crimes nor misdemeanors as grounds for impeachment.

(1,055 posts)They impeached Clinton over a blowjob. What makes you think they need any more reason than that to impeach any Democratic president?

(23,720 posts)Furthermore, if Clinton had stood up and said it is none of your GD business, instead of lying about it. There would have been no reason to impeach him either.

(1,055 posts)the goal was to discredit a sitting Democratic president by impeaching him.
To this date, only two American presidents have been impeached, Johnson and Clinton.
They knew they'd never have the votes in the Senate.

(23,720 posts)I do feel that it cheapened the impeachment process.
