(21,568 posts)I don't want this thread to be derailed into an ethical argument about the use of drones and our presence in other countries, but regardless of the means, targeting overseas terrorists and banning vetted and approved political refugees are two VERY different things. Major straw-man by Stein here.

(2,037 posts)I support and appreciate Jill Stein; but in this instance by neglecting to mention Bush - the most inhuman U.S. President by far, until the current one anyway - she made Obama the focus of her tweet, which is unfair for the reasons you outlined above.

(20,219 posts)If she neglected to mention bush, who bequeathed the Middle East wars to President Obama, who was then duty-bound to fight the terror upsurge that bush caused---then clearly she's got an agenda. And it ain't for US.
And I had thought she was doing something good when she was asking for all those donations , because I thought she was going to save the corrupted election.
tenorly
(2,037 posts)Over the years, she's certainly made enough criticism of Bush's wars and pro-bankster policies to fill a whole bookshelf - and she was the only high-profile figure (including Hillary) to actively contest the results in three states Putin's hackers stole for King Con.
BlancheSplanchnik
(20,219 posts)I don't follow her. I just became aware of her sabotaging Hillary, comparing Hillary UNFAVORABLY to dump (WTF? ), making a show of vandalism at DAPL but not doing much else, and now, meeting with Putin and keeping 4million dollars she claimed to need at the ultimate last minute to fight the hacked election.
I don't get it...I don't see much to admire here. Maybe she was better before.
tenorly
(2,037 posts)Keep in mind though that Wisconsin (i.e. Scott Walker) deliberately overestimated the cost of the recount, presumably to dissuade Stein from the effort.
The resulting surplus of $2 million Stein has pledged toward an electoral reform NGO. I'm sure the media will hold her to that (as they should with anyone).

(9,033 posts)But a word of advice: the "with us or agin' us" BS is way too prevalent and smacks of the pukes' positions.
And whatever you or I or anyone thinks of Jill Stein, Obama's drone wars in multiple countries are both morally reprehensible and counter-productive. Yes, even though it was Obama. Saying otherwise is called "situational ethics."

(7,643 posts)All of the computerized voting companies such as:
Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold Election Systems)
ES&S
Sequoia Voting Systems
Hart InterCivic
and at Karl Rove whose strategy it was to install Katherine Harris style Secretaries of State in all of the strategic states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida
Start there -- we need verifiable elections where our votes are cast in secret and tabulated in public. Right now, with the computerized systems - DREs, Optical Scanners, Computerized Central Tabulators, etc. things are the EXACT REVERSE: our votes are no longer cast in secret - they are at the mercy of proprietary software (therefore vulnerable since they are not secret to the corporation that owns the software & hardware), and are tabulated in private with proprietary software (therefore vulnerable to whatever lies in the software &/or hardware).
It is nearly impossible to cast a vote that meets with the requirement of every state that votes be cast in secret and publicly tabulated unless paper ballots are used and then hand counted.
The original purpose for being able to cast a vote in secret was to avoid voter intimidation.
Just like Fukushima, computerized voting is a deadly hazard that continues despite being kept off the media radar.
